Add other organic materials: To create a balanced compost, add other organic materials such as dried leaves, grass clippings, or vegetable scraps. Create a compost pile: Choose a spot in your garden where you want to create the compost pile. Start with a layer of chopped banana and onion peels, followed by a layer of other organic materials. Repeat the layering until you have created a pile that is at least 3 feet high. Add water: Water the pile thoroughly to ensure that the materials are moist, but not too wet. Turn the pile: After a few days, use a garden fork to turn the pile, moving the materials from the bottom to the top. This will ensure that the materials are evenly distributed and that they decompose evenly. Monitor the compost: Over the next few weeks, continue to turn the pile every few days.
