Adderall Shortage
I don't do many songs about topical issues, but for this I'll make an exception. I started taking Adderall around 1998. It really helped me do my job which was pointless and boring. Over the years, I came to lean on this drug and took it without any major problem, except getting it. Over the years the regulations got more and more difficult to get it prescribed and finally around June of 2022 I said enough and traded my addiction for Adderall for an addiction to Red Bull. My partner Rebecca however still took it until she was informed that even if prescribed, she wouldn't be able to get it because of the ADDERALL SHORTAGE!!!!!
"Why we must write a song about this right away," I exclaimed! And here it is.
The exceptional drums on this number are from @JohnPageContraband and are called Street Punk Drum Backing Track 185 bpm and can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQuqePTpsw4&t=22s
I just followed where the drums took me. The main building riff in the song that you hear at the beginning I had in a dream, layering clean guitar tones on top of each other that ended up sounding like some sort of punk harp. For this I used the rawest guitar that I own which is an old Japanese plywood body, one strat style pickup and a tele neck. The other guitars are my Yamaha RGX A2 tuned down to C standard which give it that low, almost out of tune sound.
Here are the lyrics.
Adderall shortage
We got an
Adderall shortage
Adderall shortage
We got an
Adderall shortage
When I started school
I couldn’t sit still
I was a troublemaker
So they gave me a pill
No distractions
No infractions
Here’s your diploma
Now go homa….
No more education
But now I need my medication
No ways to cope
Without my dope
Medicine cabinet
Full of methamphetamine
I finally found a drug
That works for me
Adderall is the cure
But now its gonna kill me
Because there’s nothing at the pharmacy
For any ‘mount of money
Who do i kill
To get that pill.
You can’t teach me a lesson
Without my medication
My brain no longer works for me
There’s nothing at the pharmacy
Why is everybody talkin’
At the same time
Sit still, take a pill
Shut up, pay attention
But now an Adderall shortage
Is teaching me that lesson
Shortage of patience
Shortage of endurance
Shortage of reasons
For being alive
Something so good
You can’t get enough
Something so good
They can’t make enough
With good intentions
They made me need it
Now I can’t even get it
With a legal permit
Turn the crank
Take a pill
Now that dog don’t hunt
He just sits still
Adderall shortage
No medication
Adderall shortage
Is gripping the nation
Good Intentions
Gone astray
No one said
It would be this way
Turn me loose
Tie me down
Lock me up
Go downtown
Where is here
Who’s to blame
What’s the motive
Give me names
Adderall shortage
Is gripping the nation
Adderall shortage
No medication
Adderall shortage
We got an
Adderall shortage
Adderall shortage
We got an
Adderall shortage
Live to take another pill
Charge me up and turn me loose
Feel the rush of motivation
Do the work that others can’t
Take it with my morning coffee
Point me in the right direction
Criticize me, I can take it
Motivate me, I don’t need it
Suddenly the system’s broken
I can’t get my morning pill
Nothing there to revive me
After that enormous lunch
How can I be successful
Make a difference, help the team
Kill the dragon, save the princess
Fight the fight, live the dream

Living In Freefall
Our first new video of 2023 is also our first video on Rumble. We all live our lives in freefall, falling toward an unknown destination. The world record freefall is featured. Thank you Red Bull and Felix Baumgartner.
The drums are from @Guitar Maps Drum Tracks. The majority of the song is Slushy Rock Drum Track - 100 BPM Drum Beats for Bass Guitar, Instrumental Beat 🥁 535 which can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHZfwLa9Eeo Then for the bridge (found at 3:14) I used Bulk Groove Drum Beat 100 BPM Bass Guitar Backing Track Instrumental Drums Beats #483 which can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awPqA1vh8FU
For rhythm guitars I used my little red Steinberger and my Seagull acoustic. For the bridge I wanted a darker feel, and for that I used my Yamaha RGX-A2 tuned down to a C. For guitar solos I used my Jimmy Wallace/Tausch.
Lyrics are thanks to Rebecca Birmingham Montgomery and here they are.
Living In Freefall
Living in Freefall
Living in Freefall
Living in Freefall
Why am I here. It’s
Not crystal clear. I’m
Making little progress. I’m
On the verge of crying
Crisis of catharsis
No relief in sight. With
my depression rising, free
Falling through the night
My yellow brick road
Is littered with lots of potholes
I don’t know who I should follow
When everything brings me so much sorrow
As I free fall without reference to the ground
I wonder if I’ll ever be found
Living today ain’t easy
Living in a free fall society
Why do we live here
In this dark place and then I
Turned to look at that
Beautiful face. It
Beckons me to drop right
Out of the race. Take my
Hand we’ll fall together. Take my
Hand we’ll fall forever
No more pain playing
Someone else’s game why don’t you
Free fall with me throughout
Eternity. Then the
Lights came on, and I could
Finally see, and what I
Saw was just
Reality. Won’t you
Free fall with me. Isn’t this where
we’re supposed to be. Has my imagination
Turned into madness. Has trust and truth
turned into sadness
Like a Hitchcock Movie
About Vertigo
If we jump on off
Where oh where do we go?
Spiraling out
of control
Into the unknown like a
String quartet
Playing the music for a
Sinking ship
Free fall in to an
Endless sea
Lower the boats
Always going down. More
Free fall for you and
More for me
Why do we live here
In this dark place, free
Fall for you and
More for me
My yellow brick road
Is littered with lots of potholes
I don’t know who I should follow
When everything brings me so much sorrow
As I free fall without reference to the ground
I wonder if I’ll ever be found
Living today ain’t easy
Living in a free fall society
Free fall with me. Isn’t this where
we’re supposed to be. Has my imagination
Turned into madness. Has trust and truth
turned into sadness
Like a Hitchcock Movie
About Vertigo
If we jump on off
Where oh where do we go?
