Things are turning green fast on the farm! I planted two large container (tanks) w/ lot's of Turmeric this past Monday before the rains came! I was forced to stay inside yesterday so I canned up 38 1/2 pints of fresh NC Coastal Strawberry Jam! Turned out so good! Until next time.... 🤗's!

We believe 'less is more' when it comes to Beekeeping. Wes talks about how you and your Bees can be successful if you keep your interaction with them to a minimum. Visiting a hive can be fun but excessive inspections can be detrimental to the Bees health.

It's so exciting to share space with honeybees! Today I was leaving the farm, looked up at one of our swarm hives to find an exciting surprise! I didn't have a mic so please forgive the spontaneous 'noise', lol! A small colony of honeybees occupied this swarm hive at the end of summer last year, so we left them alone. We didn't want to take a chance of relocating them into a bigger hive because they may not have been able to build enough honey frames to get through winter. Here they are today! They survived winter on their own and they are having their swarm departure meeting on the outside of the hive! The bees you see here are taking their Queen to a new, bigger hive and leaving 1/2 of the colony behind who is currently raising a new Queen! It's so exciting to see a honeybee colony survive on their own without our interference! 🤗❤️🤗

Wes walked over parts of the farm this afternoon looking for a good place to hang another swarm hive! He calls them swarm traps but I don't feel like we're trapping bees. They choose whether they wish to take up residency in our 'hives'! We appreciate your interest in our Apiary! 🍯🐝🇺🇸

It was a blustery day on the farm today. Wes couldn't help but record in spite of the wind! Our 100% beeswax arrived and we get very excited each Spring when it comes!! We order it from a mountain region in Spain where bees forage on wilderness plants away from agricultural crops. This is as pure a foundational wax as you're going to find to gift your honeybees at the start of their new foraging season. The awesome smell of this pure wax made from brood-comb is readily accepted by honeybees. Now to go find a lavalier wireless mic w/ a wind-cover for his future videos, 😂🤣!
