Moscow admits Crimea military depot explosion caused due to sabotage | DW News
An ammunitions depot has exploded in Crimea, a week after similar blasts rocked a Russian airbase on the annexed peninsula. The Russian Defence Ministry originally attributed the blasts to a fire at a military warehouse, but now says the damage is the result of sabotage. Local officials say two people were injured, while another two thousand were evacuated as a precaution. Ukraine has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement in the blasts in Crimea.
Earlier this month, major damage at a Crimean military airfield drew international attention. Russia attributed that explosion to ammunition detonating. Some experts argued that an attack was more likely, judging by available satellite imagery of the damage. Ukraine did not claim responsibility but did seek to cast doubt on Russia's version of events.

Moscow blocks Facebook, criminalises 'fake news' on Army; BBC, CNN suspend ops in Russia
Russian media regulator Roskomnadzor has blocked Facebook, the world’s largest social-media platform by number of users, in the latest broadside against freedom of information in the country as the Kremlin seeks to control the narrative about its war in Ukraine. Roskomnadzor said the decision blocked Facebook in Russia and that there had been "26 instances of discrimination toward Russian media" by Facebook since October 2020. The regulator's move to block Facebook, which has more than 2.9 billion monthly active users globally, including tens of million in Russia, further isolates the country from the rest of the world. Western governments have largely cut Russia off from their financial systems since its invasion of Ukraine, while dozens of Western firms have announced they are withdrawing from the country. Moscow-held regions of Ukraine begin voting in 'sham' referendums to join Russia | ITV News
Voting began on Friday in Moscow-held regions of Ukraine on referendums to become part of Russia, Russian-backed officials in Ukraine said.
The Kremlin-orchestrated referendums, which have been widely denounced by Ukraine and the West as shams without any legal force, are seen as a step toward annexing the territories by Russia.
The votes are being held in the Luhansk, Kherson and partly Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions.
The vote, which asks residents if they want their regions to be part of Russia, is certain to go Moscow’s way. That would give Russia the pretext to claim that attempts by Ukrainian forces to regain control are attacks on Russia itself, dramatically escalating the seven-month war.
