Join me on a cinematic tour of Safety Harbor's Philippe Park, from the pedestrian bridge to the Indian mound.

Philippe Park in Safety Harbor, Florida is a waterfront county park encompassing 122 acres. The park holds a huge historic significance in Pinellas County and the greater Tampa Bay area. It is believed to be the site of the main (capital?) city of the Tocobaga Indians, the site of a Spanish mission which was abandoned in 1568, and the site of Odet Philippe's 19th century plantation, St. Helen.

The park's main feature is the Indian mound which offers stunning views of Upper Tampa Bay. Roadways, sidewalks, and unpaved walkways throughout the park offer several miles on which to walk, jog, cycle, and skate. Locals and visitors enjoy vast green areas shaded by palms and oak trees, picnic shelters, BBQ grills, and beach areas. There are several playgrounds, a boat ramp, and a few pull-up kayak launches from shore.

Philippe Park is one of the most popular parks in Pinellas County and is free for everyone to enjoy.
