Three Days At The Off Grid Homestead

Saturday through Monday I was quite busy at the off grid homestead. I had Tim over on Saturday so I did not do much video on that day.

Saturday was all about maple syrup harvesting. Tim was on his way to visit while I was getting the fire going and collecting maple sap.

Later after Tim arrived he helped me improve the maple syrup evaporator and got the sap boiling very nicely.

It snowed lightly all day Saturday and was colder the whole day.

Sunday night it snowed and in the morning the ground was covered in a blanket of white. This surprised me because they said some "light flurries" which does not normally mean a white blanket of snow.

Monday it warmed up though and not long after you would never know it had snowed at all.

Monday most of you already know that I went to visit ManOfMany Thingz in the hospital so I was gone the whole day.

In the evening I opened some packages which arrived in the mail.

I got an awesome 12 volt DC powered camp shower. This is a full shower system including the water pump, shower head and all the hoses needed. All you need is a bucket of hot water and a 12 volt power source. Hook it up and have a nice hot shower anywhere. I love it! I had been looking at these in Australia where every camp store carries them but they are not so common in the US.

Survivalkit.com sent me some gear to test out. I got a J5 tactical flashlight to put through the stress test. I plan to put it under water, put it through the drop and shock test and show that it will still work. And I plan to drive over it with my truck as well. I think it will make for some good video.

Survivalkit.com also sent me a survival filter straw. This is perfect timing because we are in the wet season and there is lots of water in puddles on the ground waiting to be drank up through the straw.
