How I Cut My Own Hair At The Off Grid Homestead

I have been cutting my own hair at the off grid homestead all along. I use a cheap hair clipper set I bought years ago. I am off the grid but I do have solar power and some of the conveniences of home. Except that I cut my hair outside in all seasons.

I have a mirror outside up against my RV that I use for cutting my hair. This is my shaving and hair cutting station. Even in winter this is where I cut my own hair and shave. The birds are then able to use my hair clippings for nesting materials and it is returned back to nature.

I have a 100 foot extension cord that I ran out from the tiny house on wheels over to the RV hair cutting station. The cord is plugged into my power inverter to give me 120 volts AC power outside.

I simply use the hair clippers and a #3 adapter and cut it all the same length.

The back side is the hardest part for me because I cant see what I am doing. But I have a mirror that I can use to double check my work.

I run the razor a few times over all spots and then check to see if I got all the hair.

Next comes the hardest part. Shaving the back curly hairs at the bottom of my neck. I use the smaller trim razor for this. But looking into my mirror and using a razor is tough and I still do not get it right after all these years. I get the job done though.

Living off the grid means not being connected to the electrical power grid. But it does not mean living in the dark ages.
