Snow Fall At The Off Grid Project ™

Some bad weather was predicted to hit here at the off grid homestead so I went to town the other day to get supplies already. After my six days away from the tiny home my chickens are doing well. My neighbor took good care of them.

I paid him for helping me and plan to take him out to a nice dinner for watching my chickens the last two times I was gone away from home.

We were supposed to get hit with about three inches of snow and then freezing rain on top of that, turning the roads into a dangerous mess. So I decided to head out for some last minute supplies and plan to be snowed in for a while just in case.

The used forklift batteries which I plan to use for my off grid solar tiny house on wheels are holding a charge at 12.4 volts which is pretty good considering its about 25 degrees outside. I might hit them again with some more power from the DC generator to knock some of the sulfation off the plates and mix up the battery acid well. After sitting unused for so long these batteries need to be boiled a bit with an equalization charge before they can be put into service again in the off grid solar homestead.

I put off the delivery of my large newer forklift battery bank which I will use for my home solar power because I was gone away for a week. I will hopefully get it delivered soon.

I was out most of the morning cutting fire wood, which will be on another video, and it started snowing heavily just as I was finishing up with the job.

The snow came down fast and hard. I was surprised at how hard it was snowing.

I headed off into town for my supplies before it got too bad on the roads and I took my neighbor Chris with me to get his dinner.

The roads were already very slippery and I lost control sliding down a hill towards a stop sign. I gracefully and slowly drifted right through the intersection. There was not a thing I could do since it was a steep hill and I was in 2wd.

I locked in the hubs and put my good old truck into 4wd and the difference was like night and day. It feels so good to have such an awesome 4wd truck. I had no more worries about driving in the snow on this day.

When I got back after two hours there was about 3 inches of snow on the ground. I was surprised how fast it had fallen.

I have a Tiffany style hanging ceiling lamp I got from a neighbor for partial payment for allowing him to keep his camper at my place. It is a large lead and glass lamp with 5 candelabra type light bulbs. I will replace them with some LED bulbs and use the lamp in my tiny house on wheels. I think it will be beautiful in here.

wekkingelectric.com sent me some LED undercabinet lights with motion and light sensor built in. These are very nice quality lamps which sense the light in the house and only turn on at night when you pass by or swing your hands under the lamp. These are perfect for working in my tiny house kitchen. Thank you.

Someone sent me a beautiful stained glass and lead model of Baby Cat. This is an amazing piece of work. I am not sure who sent it. I remember someone saying there was a fragile package on the way. Thank you very much!!
