Mama Duck Tucks In Her Baby and Eggs

Emily is a Welsh Saxony that came to Sparkle Life with her sister, Victoria. Both 3 years old, they laid eggs together and then seemed sorted out that Emily would be the one that sits.

Originally we found them both fussing about with 22 eggs...lol We take efforts to avoid nesting. We feel that if we have room for more, we want to take in ducks in need of a gentle forever home. However, sometimes if they are sneaky enough to get away with laying a huge nest and keeping it hid - when it's discovered 'in process' we let them enjoy their natural drive and grow the flock.

After checking through and sorting out which were most likely underway - Emily was relocated to a better nest and settled in to a safe area, in her own, built-for-her brand new house, with everything she needs to grow the possible 14 babies.

One has now hatched, and after checking one egg there is movement inside, so the others are hopefully coming soon!

The dad's may be one of the 4 Runner drakes, one of the 2 Call duck or Gus - the male Saxony.
