Moment girl is swept out to sea by fierce wave

This is the terrifying moment a young girl was hurled out to sea by a huge wave which caught her off guard. A group of kids were playing at Ilfracombe Harbour in Devon, UK during high tide when a wave swept one of them between the railings and into the sea. Horrified onlookers leapt into action, one running to grab a lifebuoy while another managed to catch the girl before she was swept out further.

All involved are fine after receiving medical care, and authorities have since issued a reminder about the dangers of the sea. ‘Not only were the youths lucky not to be more seriously injured, they put their lives in danger as well as those of quick-thinking bystanders who acted when they got into trouble.’
