Gaza protesters make AOC uncomfortable

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, everyone’s favorite congresswoman (note: fact check required) was accosted by protesters outside a movie theater, who demanded she use the word ‘genocide’ to describe Israel’s continued war in Gaza. This, apparently, was not something she was comfortable doing. Or had done before while no one was listening, it’s hard to tell. The interaction ended when a visibly uncomfortable and upset AOC lashed out at the protesters, first accusing them of lying, then yelling at them that ‘it’s f*cked up man’ as she tried to walk away. Despite the protesters’ demands, she did not use the word ‘genocide.’

The clip was widely shared online where many were quick to point out that the protesters were merely following advice for protesters that AOC herself had given. ‘The point of protesting is make ppl uncomfortable,’ she said in a Tweet from 2020. ‘Activists take that discomfort w/ the status quo and advocate for concrete policy changes… to folks who complain protest demands make others uncomfortable… that’s the point.’ AOC has not commented on the incident, presumably because she has retreated to her usual location when people are protesting: under a desk several miles away from the Capitol.
