3 Vehicle Accident, 1 Person Flown, CEDAR POINT, April 4, 2024 - Shortly before 5 pm on April 4, 2024, a white 2021 Chevy pickup, driven by Michael Visger, 62, of Shepherd, was east-bound on US-190 West. As Visger was passing the Valero station, a blue 2001 Chevy pickup driven by a 15 year old Livingston female pulled out of the parking lot and broad sided Visger's vehicle. The impact pushed Visger into the west-bound lanes of 190. At that moment, a west-bound white Ford Transit minivan with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, driven by Stephen Windham, 61, of Heidlberg, Mississippi, swerved to avoid colliding with Visger. The minivan caught the trailer ball of the sliding pickup. The trailer ball caused the minivan to roll and come to rest upside down in a ditch on the right side of the west-bound lanes. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Onalaska Police Department, an Officer with Livingston PD was passing through and stopped to assist, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Johnny Wilkerson and Sergeant Allen Stanton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Windham was flown from the scene by Air Life medical, while his passenger was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial with undisclosed injuries. Visger and the 15 year old were physically okay. All traffic on 190 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. The 15 year old's pickup, and the minivan were recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service out of Onalaska, while Visger's pickup was recovered by EastTex Towing. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Editor's Note: While on the scene, some kind of skirmish broke out, an Officer with Onalaska PD cuffed and detained the guy that was seemingly out of order. We don't know if any arrests were made.
