Chainsaw maniac chases Scottish police

Two police officers were injured after a chainsaw-wielding maniac plowed into a police car and then began slowly chasing them through the street with a chainsaw. The unidentified 30-year-old drove his car into a stationary police car in Paisley, Scotland, pushing it off the road and into a wall. As the officers tried to figure out what had happened, the attacker got out and began chasing the battered and bruised officers, in broad daylight, armed with a chainsaw.

Eyewitnesses filmed the bizarre and somewhat terrifying ordeal, the low-speed chase, the man’s eventual arrest by approximately a dozen officers, and a passerby who successfully defused the chainsaw. Unconfirmed reports by eyewitnesses claimed that the man shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as he chased officers with the chainsaw; however, Police Scotland are not treating the ‘disturbance involving a weapon’ as terror related.

The man is set to appear in court, without his chainsaw, on Tuesday the 7th. The officers involved were treated by paramedics.
