Ingredients for Chicken Chana Daal:

• 1 cup boiled chana daal (split chickpeas)
• 1/2 kg chicken pieces (bone-in)
• 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
• 1 cup chopped onions
• 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
• 1/2 cup tomato puree
• 1 teaspoon red chili powder
• 1 teaspoon paprika powder
• 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
• 1 teaspoon cumin powder
• 1 teaspoon coriander powder
• 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
• 1/2 cup yogurt
• 1 cup water
• 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
• Chopped green chilies and coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

1. Heat ghee in a wok over medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
3. Add the chicken pieces and ginger-garlic paste. Cook until the chicken changes color.
4. Add tomato puree, red chili powder, paprika powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well and cook for 3 minutes.
5. Add plain yogurt to the wok. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
6. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.
7. Remove the lid and add the boiled chana daal to the wok. Cook for 2 minutes.
8. Add 1 cup of water and mix well.
9. Bring it to a boil, then cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.
10. After 15 minutes, remove the lid and add garam masala powder, kasuri methi and lemon juice. Mix well.
11. Garnish with chopped green chilies and coriander leaves.
12. Serve hot with rice or roti.
