New footage shows discovery of President Raisi helicopter crash site

Footage has been released showing the first moments emergency crews arrived at the crashed helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Debris from the helicopter can be seen scattered around the undergrowth in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, as the rescue crew makes their way through the crash site.

The Bell 212 helicopter was returning from the opening of a dam on the border with Azerbaijan on Sunday when it came down in the mountains during heavy fog. President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six other passengers were killed in the crash.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared five days of national mourning, while First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will take over as acting president until elections are held.
