2 Vehicle Accident, 1 Rolls, GOODRICH, July 6, 2021 - At approximately 4:55 pm on July 6, 2021, an older model red Chevy pickup, driven by Charles Myers, 38, of Livingston, was north-bound on US-59. Myers' vehicle was suddenly slammed from behind by a black 2009 Nissan Titan, driven by Jack Johnson, 23, of Huntington. The impact caused Myers' vehicle to leave the pavement to the left and roll. Myers' vehicle came to rest upside down in the center median (at the north end of Loop 393). Johnson's vehicle also slid into the center median upright. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. Charles Myers crawled from his vehicle and fled the scene (possibly injured). Myers' passenger, Brandon Nichols, 24, of Bay City, also crawled from the wreckage and was physically okay. Jack Johnson was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic on both sides of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. A baggy with methamphetamine was pulled from Myers' wreckage. When asked about the meth, passenger Brandon Nichols denied any knowledge. Nichols was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine. Jack Johnson was charged with failure to control speed. Johnson's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich. Myers' vehicle was recovered by All Star Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.
