How US-Trained Afghan Government Forces Submitted To Taliban Without Even Putting Up A Fight

In the last week, the Taliban took over Jalalabad, Kandahar, Herat, Mazar-i-Sharif and 15 Afghan provincial capitals. Taliban advanced at a breakneck speed to capture entire Afghanistan even before the last of the US troops could exit the country. After the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, the group was believed to be weakened, but the Taliban’s rapid gains show that the group was never weakened but only laid dormant, waiting for the US to exit.
