Learn how to write a simple sentence and how to write a compound sentence in today's English writing practice lesson. A simple sentence has a subject and a predicate. A compound sentence has a subject and two predicates or two subjects and a predicate. Practice writing a simple sentence and a compound sentence in a paragraph about caterpillars and butterflies. It is easy to tell the difference between simple sentence and a compound sentence. A simple sentence doesn't have a conjunction like and, but, or or. A compound sentence has a conjunction to join either two subjects or two predicates.
