540 💖💲 ✌ It’s official. ACME Mowing has joined the snow removal business! We are still installing Christmas lights, but that will come to an end very soon! What’s next? We managed to get a few snow removal contracts this year. We’ll be enforcing a zero-tolerance ice policy with them. If the temp drops below freezing and there has been or will be any chance of precipitation….we go ahead and apply salt every 12 hours until it’s over. So we bought a SnowEx V-Maxx 8500 salt spreader and a SnowEx HDV snow plow from a guy in Kansas. We sold the Bad Boy and used that money to buy these. We show them to you in today’s vlog. 527 💖💲 ✌ We’re less than a week from our trip to the 2023 Equip Exposition in Louisville, KY. This year is more important than any of the previous 5 years we’ve attended! We will be seriously looking at skid steers, new weed control/fertilization rigs and even testing out some new mowers. 2024 is going to be a big expansion year for ACME Mowing and Lawn Care! We plan on adding a second spray team and another mow/property maintenance crew. The old Man is seeing a need for a landscaping supply store in our local area. Maybe even establishing an equipment dealership. Our small town is due to double in size within the next 10 years based on projected new houses and neighborhoods being planned. Leaf cleanups and Christmas light installations will keep us busy through November and into December. Time to make that money to get us through our very slow period of January-March. We’re hoping for a very wet winter of snow removal and salting contracts as well. The Farmer’s Almanac seems to think we’re going to get hammered with the wintery stuff this year! We hope so! 526 💖💲 ✌ We’ve had 3 mowers down and needing repairs. Our main Z-Sprayer lost it’s nozzle on the spray gun. Our old Z-sprayer had it’s stater go bad. We had a weed-eater “fall” off the trimmer rack somewhere and had another one just fail outright after less than a season’s use on it. Some weeks are worse than others and last week just sucked! We have thousands out in billing and just had to write a huge check to the IRS for taxes that caught us off-guard. Making payroll was tight this week. We paid off the remainder of the loans we had and now just have the new truck financed….so we’re ahead of the curve…..but man….that curve was tight this week. Lesson learned for sure. We’ll be back on track next week. We have enough out in billing to get us through the winter and we expect most of our outstanding invoices will be paid by the 15th. We cut it tight….we won’t be doing that again! Lesson learned. 523 💖💲 ✌ ACME Mowing attended the 1st Annual Texas Lawn Care Roundup on 30 September 2023! Lex and JT got interviewed in their very first podcast as well! We’ll share that as soon as it is released! The networking and business improvement event was hosted by AJ’s Lawn Care based out of San Marcos Texas. Teno and Ricky did an outstanding job with the guest speaker lineup. We got the inside scoop from a dealer who taught us how to maximize the various Fleet Programs in order to save thousands of dollars each year. We heard from a Stihl rep about how to utilize their equipment tracking dongle in order to maintain equipment for peak performance. A landscaping business that is on track to gross $2.3 million this year told us how he expects to increase that to $3.3 to $3.5 million next year. A Texas podcaster was in attendance as well. He explained how he started in the business and how talking with owners at ALL levels has improved his business and business knowledge. One of the largest family-owned distributors in the USA was also there. He explained how his company can help maximize your profits while, at the same time, train you in aspects of the business that you may be new to.
