Straw-manning, the art of misdirection #shorts
The straw man fallacy is when someone takes something you've said out of context and attacks you for what they claim you said or meant. It's a way of misdirecting a conversation or an argument. A common arguing tactic of narcissists. Watch the full video on my channel.

Did the Narcissist ever love you?
Do narcissists love others? Are they capable of love? If you've been a relationship with a narcissistic person the obvious answer might be 'no'. However narcissism can be more complex than you might think, and it’s not always easy to give a definitive answer as we can never fully know what is in someones head.
This video looks at the different kinds and stages of love and explores how narcissists might experience them, if at all.

Why do narcissists avoid accountability? #shorts
Why do narcissists avoid responsibility and accountability? Why do they blame shift, accuse others of doing the very things they do themselves?
"Since [narcissists] deep down, feel themselves to be faultless, it is inevitable that when they are in conflict with the world they will invariably perceive the conflict as the world’s fault. Since they must deny their own badness, they must perceive others as bad. They project their own evil onto the world. They never think of themselves as evil, on the other hand, they consequently see much evil in others. "– M. Scott Peck, M.D.

Ten Signs of Narcissistic Rage
Narcissistic rage is a term that was first coined by Heinz Kohut in 1972 in his book ‘The Analysis of the Self’. It refers to how a narcissist reacts to what they would consider to be negative feedback, or when expectations are not met. This causes a discomfort that triggers an exaggerated angry response often out of proportion to the perceived offence.
This video outlines ten signs of narcissistic rage and how it differs from a normal outburst of anger.

Narcissism is characterised by a sense of entitlement and being self absorbed. There’s a lack of empathy for others. They can be highly disagreeable and highly resistant to criticism. They can also be envious of others, and believe others should envy them.
Many people who have been in long term relationships report their self confidence, self esteem and sense of self had been eroded over time. This video looks at how and why that happens.

Tourettes Syndrome and Neurodiversity
Tourette Syndrome is a condition of the nervous system which causes people to have 'tics', sudden involuntary twitches, sounds or movements that people do repeatedly.
Neurodiversity describes how people experience, process information and interact with the world around them in many different ways.
Becky Simpson Ryan is a therapist based in the UK and has had a diagnosis of Tourettes Syndrome since she was fourteen. She works to educate others on neurodiversity through social media and provides support through her counselling practice.
In today's discussion Becky shares her first hand experience and insight into Tourettes Syndrome and dispels many myths around it.

The Signs and Stages of a Coercive Relationship
Coercive control is a series of behaviours aimed to dominate through manipulating, threatening, abusing and bullying someone into submission. Among other things it can involve emotional, psychological, sometimes even physical abuse.
Some of the common recurring themes in coercive relationships involve gaslighting, intimidation, violence, with holding attention or resources, and emotional blackmail.
This video outlines the stages of a coercive, abusive relationship from the beginning, usually known as the honeymoon period, to how the victim adapts to the abuse. What happens when the victim realises it is coercive control and what happens when they either leave or attempt to leave, and the aftermath.

Ostracism - Being Abused Without a Word Being Said
To be ostracised, excluded by others can be one of the most insidious forms of emotional abuse in the sense that the aggressors don't have to actually do anything except ignore their target. It can happen at work, in communities, friendship groups and even families.
In this video I outline what it is, the affects on someone's mental health and refer to research carried out by Professor Kipling D Williams.

Quiet BPD, The Scapegoated Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder is part of the Cluster B Group of personalities, characterised by dramatic, overly emotional or unpredictable thinking and behaviours. Key characteristics of BPD include emotional dysregulation and a fear of abandonment.
In this video Darren Magee talks with mental health advocate Bryan Ingram about his experiences living with Quiet Borderline, a subtype of BPD where many of the symptoms and characteristics are internalised which can lead to constant rumination, self doubt and difficulties asserting boundaries. Bryan speaks candidly about his experiences growing up, his relationship with himself as well as others, and how he feels it is the 'scapegoat' disorder, for not only being held accountable for how others feel, but also being criticised and rejected when feeling hurt.

Four Signs Your Relationship Will Not Survive - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
Many relationships go through difficulties from time to time and many can be resolved. However after studying over 2,000 couples for more than two decades Dr John Gottman found there are four attitudes and behaviours present in a relationship around how couples relate to each other that can predict with some accuracy relationship failure if they continue unchecked. He named them the 'Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse'.
These behaviours are criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling. In this video Darren Magee outlines the four behaviours and gives examples of how they manifest, then shares some thoughts on whether or not the relationship can be salvaged.
