A Coalition aircraft strikes an artillery piece firing on Syrian Democratic Forces and Coalition advisors in the Middle Euphrates River Valley, Feb. 7, 2018. The Coalition struck a hostile force that conducted an unprovoked attack east of the Euphrates River Feb. 7-8. Following de-confliction calls between Coalition and Russian officials, Coalition strikes destroyed multiple tanks, artillery and mortars observed firing on the SDF and Coalition forces.

The U.S. Navy is releasing video of a U.S. EP-3 Aries aircraft flying Jan. 29, 2018, in international airspace over the Black Sea being intercepted by a Russian Su-27. This interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the Su-27 closing to within five feet and crossing directly through the EP-3's flight path, causing the EP-3 to fly through the Su-27's jet wash. The duration of the intercept lasted two hours and 40 minutes. The Russian military is within its right to operate within international airspace, but they must behave within international standards set to ensure safety and prevent incidents, including the 1972 Agreement for the Prevention of Incidents on and Over the High Seas (INCSEA). Unsafe actions‎ increase the risk of miscalculation and midair collisions. The U.S. aircraft was operating in accordance with international law and did not provoke this Russian activity. On Nov. 5, 2018, a U.S. EP-3 Aries aircraft flying in international airspace over the Black Sea was intercepted by a Russian SU-27. This interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the SU-27 conducting a high-speed pass directly in front of the mission aircraft, putting at risk the pilots and crew. The intercepting SU-27 made an additional pass, closing with the EP-3 and applying its afterburner while conducting a banking turn away. The crew of the EP-3 reported turbulence following the first interaction and vibrations from the second. The duration of the intercept was approximately 25 minutes. While the Russian military is within its right to exercise within international airspace, this interaction was irresponsible. We expect them to behave within international standards set to ensure safety and prevent incidents, including the 1972 Agreement for the Prevention of Incidents On and Over the High Seas (INCSEA). Unsafe actions‎ increase the risk of miscalculation and the potential for midair collisions. Two Russian Su-27 aircraft conducted an unsafe and unprofessional intercept with a U.S. Air Force intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance unmanned MQ-9 aircraft operating within international airspace over the Black Sea on March 14, 2023. A meteor belonging to the Taurid Shower exploding over Casper, Wyoming in November 2022. The Taurid meteor shower is a long-lasting meteor shower that occurs annually in late October and early November. The shower is caused by debris from Comet Encke (The Southern Taurids), and asteroid "2004 TG" (The Northern Taurids) and typically produces only a few meteors per hour. However, the Taurids have been known to produce "fireballs" or exceptionally bright meteors. The Taurids are also referred to as the Halloween Fireballs due to their occurrence around Halloween. The Younger Dryas Impact Theory suggests that a comet or comet fragment struck the Earth around 12,900 years ago, which would have caused a mass extinction event and led to the end of the Clovis culture. The theory posits that the Taurid meteor stream is the remnant of this comet.
