Moment Oil Tanker Catches Fire On Ludhiana Flyover
A video shot from a car which was a few metres away from the oil tanker captured the moment it caught fire. Two men were pulled out of the tanker and fuel was leaking from the overturned tanker.
A massive fire erupted on a flyover in Punjab's Ludhiana after an oil tanker was up in flames after it hit a divider. The flyover was covered with black smoke billowing from the oil tanker, which overturned after hitting the divider.
A video shot from a car which was a few metres away from the oil tanker captured the moment it caught fire. Two men were pulled out of the tanker and fuel was leaking from the overturned tanker. Three seconds after the men were taken out safely, the highly inflammable fuel caught fire and the entire tanker was up in flames in less than a second.
It was a close shave for those standing close to the oil tanker. Several vehicles crossed the tanker and a crowd gathered on the flyover to see the overturned truck. As of now, there have been no reports of any casualties or serious injuries.
Emergency teams have reached the location and are trying to douse the massive inferno.
The incident led to chaotic scenes on the #flyover in #Khanna in #Ludhiana and the traffic came to a standstill.
Khanna Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Sharma said the oil tanker was going to a filling station at Mandi Gobindgarh from Jalandhar.
When it reached the Khanna bus stand flyover, its tyre burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The tanker then hit the divider, flipped to the side and caught fire, the officer said.
Photos and videos of the incident show thick, black smoke blowing up into the sky while vehicles pass underneath the flyover.

Footage of the earthquake in Mindanao island, Philippines.
A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck the southern Philippines on Friday, killing one person, injuring dozens and damaging buildings, authorities said.
The quake struck off Mindanao island at a depth of 60 km (37.3 miles), according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ).
Angel Dugaduga, a disaster response official in the coastal town of Glan near the epicentre, said at least one person died and 18 others were injured based on an initial report.
The town's municipal office building and gymnasium were also damaged from the quake and electricity had been knocked out by the tremor, Dugaduga added.
Earthquakes are common in the Philippines, which lies on the "Ring of Fire", a belt of volcanoes circling the Pacific Ocean that is prone to seismic activity.
The Philippine seismology agency PHIVOLCS and the Pacific Tsunamic Warning Center said a tsunami was not expected.
Amor Mio, police chief of nearby Koronadal city, said there were no reports of casualties but officials were checking a shopping mall reported to have been damaged.
"The employees were ordered evacuated for their safety. According to police in the area, there was extensive damage but we could not ascertain definitely yet the extent," Mio said by telephone.
PHIVOLCS director Teresito Bacolcol told DZRH radio the earthquake's intensity was "destructive, so we would expect damage".
The earthquake lasted several seconds, he said, advising residents to be on alert for aftershocks as strong as magnitude 6.2.
Radio announcer Leny Aranego in General Santos city, close to Glan, said the quake shook buildings and desks. "We saw how the walls cracked and computers fell," he told DZRH radio station.
Michael Ricafort, an economist at the lender RCBC, said in a Facebook post passengers at General Santos City airport were evacuated to the tarmac.

Drone Explodes Over Putin's Office In Kremlin, Russia Blames Ukraine
#Russia today accused Ukraine of attempting to kill President Vladimir Putin. It claimed it shot down two drones which were used in the alleged attack.
It said Russia reserved the right to retaliate - a comment that suggested that Moscow might use the alleged incident to justify a further escalation in the 14-month-old war with Ukraine.
Putin was not injured and there was no material damage to the Kremlin building, it said, adding it considered the alleged attack "a planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation."
"Two unmanned vehicles were aimed at the Kremlin... the devices were put out of action," the Kremlin said in a statement. The Russian president was not on the premises at the time of the attempted drone attack, the Kremlin added.
Ukraine has said it has "nothing to do" with alleged Kremlin #drone #attack.
An unverified video circulating on Russian social media including the channel of the military news outlet Zvezda showed pale smoke rising behind the main Kremlin Palace in the walled citadel after the purported incident. Another showed one of the drones, right above the dome of the presidential palace, being shot down by Russia.

Moscow's mayor has announced a ban on unauthorised drone flights over the Russian capital, just as the news of drones targeting Putin surfaced.
In a statement, mayor Sergei Sobyanin said drone flights would be prohibited unless a special permit had been obtained from "government authorities". He added that the ban was meant to prevent unauthorised drone flights that could "obstruct the work of law enforcement".
Meanwhile, the Kremlin said that the May 9 Victory Day parade would go ahead in Moscow despite the incident, the state-run TASS news agency reported.
Victory Day is a key anniversary for Putin, who often evokes the spirit and sacrifice that helped the Soviet Union repel Hitler's Nazis at a cost of some 27 million lives to boost patriotic sentiment.
Earlier, the Kremlin said the Russian security services are working to ensure that Moscow's annual Victory Day parade across Red Square on May 9 can go ahead safely despite the risk of a threat from Ukraine.
Russian energy, logistics and military facilities have been hit in drone and other attacks since Moscow launched what it calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine. Kyiv has not taken official responsibility for such attacks, but has often made cryptic or sarcastic comments welcoming them as it resists what it calls a Russian war of conquest.

Moment Elon Musk's Starship Exploded During Test Flight
Billionaire Elon Musk's iconic rocket Starship, the largest and most powerful ever built designed to send astronauts to the Moon and Mars and beyond, exploded on Thursday during the spacecraft's first test flight. Mr Musk said that the next Starship test will be in a few months.
Minutes after SpaceX congratulated itself on an "exciting first integrated flight test of Starship", the company tweeted that the rocket "experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly before stage separation".
At the three-minute mark commentators indicated an issue with the test flight. The rocket began to flip for the separation stage and the rotating rocket could be seen in the SpaceX livestream.
Starship should have separated from the super-heavy booster but the rocket continues to rotate, the commentators said. "This does not appear to be a nominal situation," the commentator stated after which the rocket exploded in the sky.
The gigantic rocket successfully blasted off at 8:33 am Central Time (1333 GMT) from Starbase, the private SpaceX spaceport in Boca Chica, Texas. The Starship capsule had been scheduled to separate from the first-stage rocket booster three minutes into the flight but separation failed to occur and the rocket blew up.
Despite the failure to complete the full flight test, SpaceX declared it a success. "We cleared the tower which was our only hope," said Kate Tice, a SpaceX quality systems engineer.
"With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today's test will help us improve Starship's reliability as SpaceX seeks to make life multi-planetary," SpaceX tweeted. "Congratulations to the entire SpaceX team on an exciting first integrated flight test of Starship!"
After a failed first attempt on Monday, where liftoff of the giant rocket was called off just minutes ahead of the scheduled launch time because of a pressurization issue in the booster stage, there was great excitement for this launch.
Elon Musk had been hesitant about the launch. The SpaceX owner had warned ahead of the launch that technical issues were likely and sought to play down expectations for the inaugural test flight.
"It's a very risky flight," he said. "It's the first launch of a very complicated, gigantic rocket. There's a million ways this rocket could fail," Musk said.
The US space agency NASA has picked the Starship spacecraft to ferry astronauts to the Moon in late 2025 -- a mission known as Artemis III -- for the first time since the Apollo program ended in 1972.
SpaceX foresees eventually putting a Starship into orbit, and then refueling it with another Starship so it can continue on a journey to Mars or beyond.
The eventual objective is to establish bases on the Moon and Mars and put humans on the "path to being a multi-planet civilization," according to Musk. "We are at this brief moment in civilization where it is possible to become a multi-planet species," he said. "That's our goal. I think we've got a chance."

Pittsburgh Police report ‘critical incident’ at Central Catholic High School
After about a half-hour of lockdown, Pitt police determined that the campus was safe to reopen. Pittsburgh Public Safety said in an initial alert that students and parents from Central and Oakland Catholic schools should gather at the Oakland Quad Cathedral of Learning. They later stated in an update that both schools “have been cleared and declared safe.”
Police issued an ENS alert Wednesday morning, warning the public of a “critical incident” at Central Catholic High School and advising them to avoid the area.
The police had placed the campus on lockdown.
Students reported taking refuge in Thackeray Hall, a nearby University building, Pitt News reported.
“Due to police activity near Central Catholic High School in Oakland, multiple bus routes traveling through the area are on detour. More information regarding detours will be posted as it becomes available,” Pittsburgh Regional Transit Alerts wrote in a tweet.
Central Catholic’s director of communications, Brian Cook, told WPXI News that they believe it’s a hoax but are taking the necessary steps to ensure it.
State police, according to KDKA, are investigating reports of active shooter threats in schools across the state that are thought to be “computer generated swatting calls.”
Video posted by a user showed officers in full tactical gears arriving at the scene.
