Where Did the Universe Come From?
As physicists and cosmologists piece together the history of the cosmos as best they can, they run into an uncomfortable question: Just where did the universe come from? After all, the universe is EVERYTHING. It would be very convenient for scientists looking to avoid the need for a Creator to be able to say that somehow the universe has simply always been here. But the science is telling the scientists something else: It hasn’t always been here. It all had a beginning. It all came into existence… from nothing. So, just how do you get everything—all time, space, matter, and energy—literally everything—from nothing?

Should Couples Cohabitate or Wait?
Moving in with your significant other is an important decision and should not be taken lightly. Are there repercussions to living together before exchanging wedding vows? Should you cohabitate or wait? In today’s world, it is not uncommon to hear of young couples wanting to “make sure” that they “suit each other” before they make the commitment to marriage. Many want a test run with supposedly no strings attached prior to marriage—if marriage is even a consideration at all. You may not realize that those who cohabitate prior to marriage actually have a much higher (50-80% higher) chance of divorcing rather than those who marry without first living together. Cohabitation removes the formal commitment that defines marriage. It gives each party an “easy out” in case things get difficult. In this video, Winston Gosse takes a look at the question of whether one should cohabitate or wait for marriage.

High Society: Does Legalizing Marijuana Reduce Crime?
Many today are promoting the legalization of marijuana. One of their salient arguments is that legalization will be a blow against organized crime. Is this really the case? Many in the medical community, as articulated on the Government of Canada website and by the Canadian Medical Association, is that marijuana is a dangerous drug, with a host of serious, lasting and in some cases debilitating side effects.
You've likely heard the argument that legalizing marijuana will reduce crime. The position is put forward that legalizing marijuana would reduce contact of users with the criminal element and hence lessen the likelihood of contact with more serious drugs. While it is obvious that legalizing marijuana would cause a drop in the crime rate (making anything that is currently illegal and making it legal would reduce crime), it does not mean that the remaining illegal drug trade would be significantly harmed.
According to a University of Ottawa study, marijuana is used by at lead 2.3 million Canadians. Nearly a quarter-million of these users are between the ages of 12 to 17 years old. Yet, despite easier availability and decreased risk of prosecution, the consumption of even more damaging drugs is increasing.
Research and common sense demonstrate that legalization of marijuana will increase, not decrease, drug crime, and the results of drug abuse. Legalizing ways to escape reality only result in a weaker and more violent society, where the only hope seems to be getting high.

Why Isn’t Intelligent Design Science?
The theory of Intelligent Design holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection. Seems simple enough. At the heart of most attacks against this theory is a single, crucial claim: “Intelligent Design is not science.” Let's put that statement to the test.

Is the prohibition of marijuana just a useless holdover from a prudish era, or, are there measurable and hazardous repercussions to the use of marijuana? With governments pushing to legalize, we should take note of the concerns raised by the Canadian Medical Association.

Nineveh and the Archaeological Evidence
READ OUR BOOKLET: The Bible: Fact Or Fiction - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/booklets/the-bible-fact-or-fiction
In 19th century Victorian Britain, incredulity towards the Bible had begun to set in bringing the Bible’s historicity into question. In the ‘Post-Age of Enlightenment’ period many scholars had eroded the confidence in the accuracy of scripture. However, when Layard produced his first book “Nineveh and its Remains” it became a bestseller and rejuvenated a dying faith in the public consciousness. Other than the Old Testament and an obscure description of ruins by Greek historian Xenophon, in 400 BC, there was no other historical record to prove the existence of Nineveh. The city had long since been considered a myth. What Austen Layard ultimately discovered were the records of kings and their conquests which directly paralleled the biblical account.

John A. MacDonald: the Patriot Statesman
In Kingston, Ontario, at the old Cataraqui Cemetery, one could miss an unpretentious granite marker, engraved with a simple inscription: John Alexander MacDonald, 1815-1891, At Rest.
One would not suspect that this grave contains the remains of one of the great driving forces behind the creation of the Dominion of Canada. MacDonald was a talented, hard-working visionary who left two great legacies - the unification of British colonies in eastern North America into a single nation, followed by the expansion of this union across the continent to the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, bringing into existence the second largest country on earth.
With his legacy currently under attack, one must ask: “Who is John A. MacDonald?” and “Why was his leadership so important for the establishment of Canada?”

Am I Going to Hell?

Are you going to burn in hell for eternity or have you been good enough to go to heaven as your reward? I've got news for you, most religions have been misrepresenting what the bible says and neither of these outcomes is true.
How many times have you heard that if you are bad you will go to hell? Or that the ones you loved, who were good people, are now in heaven? These concepts form the main structure of belief for most Christians but it's simply not true if you go by what the Bible says.

The Gecko Grip
In warmer climates lives a small creature that has amazed and bewildered human observers for thousands of years—even inspiring engineers at NASA. The Gecko’s most amazing characteristic is its ability to walk effortlessly on vertical or even overhead surfaces, despite the fact that its feet are not sticky nor do they possess any form of suction cups.
The Gecko’s adhesion is far superior to anything man has been able to design. Thus British Aerospace and NASA, are now working to perfect synthetic gecko grippers. They hope to be able to use them to enable robotic spacecraft to grab space debris; for high-end braking systems, and closing wounds without stitches.

Is the Earth 6000 Years Old?
Current estimates place the age of the earth at 4.5 billion years. However, many claim that God created it 6000 years ago. That's quite the difference. Could the planet really be only 6000 years old? Does the Bible even support such a claim? For many, the first few verses in Genesis provide a concrete answer. Is there something that many miss when reading this passage? Do we have to choose between the scientific evidence of the earth's age and the creation account in the Bible?

The Truth About Santa Claus
READ OUR BOOKLET: Is Christmas Christian? https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/booklets/is-christmas-christian
Let me tell you a story. Every year a man wearing a red suit flies through the air on a sled pulled by magical reindeer. He comes from the icy land, known as Lapland and he hands out presents to every good boy or girl. This is a lot of work for one man and so he relies on tiny elves to help with the fulfillment of gifts.
You probably teach your children this story and just like any other bedtime stories you want to fill your child’s mind with good dreams and cause for excitement. The only difference between this story and that of the Cat in the Hat or Paddington Bear is that you tell your children this story is true.

Consider the Beaver
The beaver is second only to man in its ability to permanently alter the environment to meet its needs. It modifies landscapes and brings water back to previously dry areas. Much research is now being done in putting the beaver to work, perhaps impacting the planet’s water supply.
Beavers are designed for their role: teeth that never stop growing and cannot be worn out, bodies perfectly designed for swimming, eyes with built-in swimming goggles and the ability to stay submerged for 15 minutes. They are built to lift many times their own weight, pulling heavy logs to the water. They could not have been better engineered for their role.

Is Climate Change a Hoax?
Is climate change real? Is it a hoax? Let’s review what scientists in their field of study have concluded and try to gain an unbiased basic understanding of what is happening to our planet.
Peer-reviewed scientific journals, preferably written by scientists holding doctorates within their relevant fields of study, such as Climatology, Meteorology, Geology, and any other relevant interdisciplinary fields within physics, chemistry and biology are the generally accepted benchmarks for reliable data. With that being said, I will not be quoting from Al Gore or Bill Nye, and will intentionally avoid any disreputable scientists who are assumed to be on the payroll of big oil or political parties with an obvious agenda or bias. With the disclaimer out of the way, if you have any additional credible sources or verifiable corrections that add weight to either side of the argument please comment below.

Cattails: Cleaning Up The Environment
All communities are faced with the constant challenge of safely disposing of sewage. Sewage treatment that will render effluent harmless to the environment is actually very expensive. In many places, the cost is such that effluent is simply dumped in rivers, lakes or seas. One only needs to think back to the Rio Olympics in Brazil to illustrate the devastating effect of such practices.
The town of Humboldt, Saskatchewan needed a new treatment plant that it could not afford. A researcher, Dr. G. Lakshman, was given permission to develop two very small and very shallow lagoons outside of the community. In its carefully designed 8-inch deep trenches, workers planted thousands of cattails or bulrushes. Lakshman believed that marsh plants in general, and cattails in particular, had insatiable appetites for sewage, and were perhaps the root of the solution for waste treatment in such areas. He reasoned such plants normally exist at the bottom of drainage basins and are at the receiving end of all the material that eventually gets washed into low areas by rain and gravity.

An Eggs-quisite Invention
For most of us, life today is easier in many ways than it was for our great-grandparents because of a number of rather simple inventions often taken for granted. In thinking of life-changing innovations, we often consider very complex machines like airplanes, motorized transportation or perhaps even MRI machines. However, our day-to-day lives are also made much less difficult by a number of seemingly insignificant items, the contributions of which are often overlooked because they are considered commonplace and mundane.

The Miracle of Dunkirk
On May 16th, the Allied forces in France were caught off guard by the German Panzer divisions which circumvented the Maginot line by driving through the Ardennes Forest. What followed was a hasty retreat for the British Expeditionary Force, or BEF, and other Allied forces.
After suffering a heavy onslaught at the hands of the advancing German army, the troops were stranded on the beach at Dunkirk. Initial attempts to rescue the encircled army proved to be too slow, with only 39 British and 4 Canadian Royal Navy Destroyers. It became obvious to the admiralty that the evacuation needed support and so the public were called upon to lend a hand.
What followed has been described as the Miracle of Dunkirk. What was so miraculous about this stunning escape?

Empty Oceans: Have We Destroyed the Bounty of the Sea?
For five centuries, the waters off Newfoundland and Nova Scotia filled the holds of thousands of vessels every year. There seemed no end to the bounty. Yet suddenly, in 1992, the Canadian government announced a moratorium on the fishing of northern cod. The most plentiful fishing ground on the planet had seemingly collapsed. Communities were devastated, and thousands were suddenly without a livelihood. Everyone sought an explanation for the disappearance of the cod. The Department of Fisheries blamed everything from water temperature to growing seal populations. Experienced fishermen knew otherwise…

Father's Day: The Importance of Fathers
On Father's Day we tend to become sentimental, buying gifts and cards which reflect a deep appreciation and "love for Dad."
Sentiments and efforts like this are good and are completely appropriate because the best dads are the ones who evoke such genuine feelings and positive recognition.
Too many children though, in today's society are growing up with precious little understanding of what a father's presence means in a home and what a loving dad's presence and impact means in a child's life.

Does Character Matter Anymore?
With the sudden increase of sexual harassment claims against influential personalities, the question must be asked: “How did individuals of such low character come to prominence in the first place?”
In watching politics, I often find myself amazed at how quickly an individual accused of just about anything can be vilified. The ink barely has time to dry on most stories, or whatever the equivalent saying would be for tweets, and then countless politicians declare their outrage at how shameful and immoral the accused is. It appears innocent until proven guilty has given way to the immediate ostracizing of anyone accused of wrongdoing. Of course, that is if the accused is a member of the opposing political party. Does character matter anymore?
