Boyan Slat: The Ocean Cleanup & The Plastic in Our Oceans
Amidst all the fear and government funds being thrown into climate change research, comparatively little time and effort is spent on a potentially greater threat to life on earth, the plastic in our oceans. According to a recent UK government report the plastic floating in our oceans may triple over the next ten years! The harm that this will bring to marine life is potentially catastrophic.

The Monster In Our Mouth
Do you have a monster in your mouth? The tongue is only a little part of the body, yet it can produce powerful words of both blessing and cursing. An old English children's rhyme states, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.” Is that always the case?

Crisis in Western Education
In January of 2013, a small event became national news across Canada. Professor Judith Adler, at Memorial University of Newfoundland, had grown concerned that many of her students might be lacking awareness of geography that would enable them to comprehend course issues about global cultural traditions. She gave her students a quiz consisting of a blank map of the world, with instructions to indicate where places and features such as Africa, Europe, Great Britain and the Atlantic Ocean were. To her surprise, many students had not the most rudimentary geographic awareness. Some did not know where the Atlantic Ocean was, even though they could see it from their university.
The nation was horrified. How could it be that high school graduates could complete schooling and have such a knowledge deficit? Yet this was not the first sign of trouble in the nation’s schools.

Was Moses Jewish?
Certain aspects of this epic tale, the Ten plagues of Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea and Moses descending from the top of Mount Sinai with tablets of stone etched with the Ten Commandments in hand, are familiar details for most. However, if you were to read through the account of the Exodus in the King James version of the Bible you may be surprised to find one term missing. The word Jew along with Jews, or Jewish, is nowhere to be found in the book of Exodus. This leaves us with one question—Was Moses Jewish?
The facts presented in this video are not anti-Semitic, nor do they denigrate the Jewish people. On the contrary, we greatly admire the Jewish people for many of their achievements and what they have contributed to society, including their role in preserving the Word of God. While the purpose of the video above is to highlight a few popular misconceptions about Moses and the commandments, it is important to note why these issues are relevant. Pointing out that Moses was not a Jew, and that the laws of God were not solely for the Jews, is not done with animosity towards any peoples. In fact, the essential truth that many overlook as a result of the misconceptions covered in this video is that laws seen by many to be “Jewish” such as the Sabbath, Biblical Holy Days and laws of clean and unclean meats were not intended for the Jews alone, but were designed as universal laws for all people. Secondly, characterizing the Exodus as “the Jewish” escape from Egypt hides the incredible truth that the other tribes of Israel, who do not identify as Jewish, are still in existence today.

Are Casinos Good for Communities?
When local, or even provincial or state governments find themselves in need of greater revenue streams to support education, healthcare or other services, but don’t want to raise taxes, casinos and lotteries are often promoted as ways to produce a sizable influx of cash, boost tourism and provide a new source of entertainment for the locals.
It’s important that we stop and ask the question: Are Casinos Good for Communities?

The Polar Bear: Threatened or Thriving?
On the front of the Canadian two-dollar coin is the image of an animal, Ursus maritimus, the polar bear, a creature of rare beauty. This great bear is the largest living land carnivore, the average male weighing 1200 pounds with a record of 2,200 lb. While it can look adorable, it is, in fact, one of the most dangerous animals on earth.
If one were to specifically set out to custom design a carnivorous predator for the high arctic, one could do no better than Ursus Maritimus. It can thrive in temperatures averaging -30 F in the winter, in a barren ice-covered land bordered by the freezing brine of the Arctic Ocean. What enables this noble creature to survive in one of the harshest climates on earth?

The Scourge of Loneliness
In January 2018 the British Prime Minister, Theresa May, announced the creation of a new ministerial portfolio in her cabinet for the purpose of combating loneliness. Melissa Healy from the LA Times wrote, “The country that put the starch in "stiff upper lip" has made companionship, conversation and human contact a national priority.” Loneliness according to Theresa May is a scourge on society and statistics bear that out. How do we combat the scourge of loneliness?

Sea Sponges and Unity
Sea sponges are considered to be some of the simplest of multi-cellular animals on earth. They have neither a central nervous system nor a brain yet the various types of cells within a sea sponge are able to perform the many different functions necessary for life. One amazing characteristic of sea sponges is their ability to regenerate. They are able to rebuild parts of their body structure that have been broken off, but it goes far beyond this. There is an interesting experiment that has been performed in laboratories around the world that demonstrates the remarkable regenerative ability of this simple creature.

Video Game Violence: What You Feast Your Eyes On
Do we become more aggressive and less empathetic by watching violent media and playing first-person shooter games? It doesn’t sound surprising to me that, according to a recent CNN article “…more than 400 studies revealed a "significant" link between being exposed to violent media (in general) and aggressive behaviour, aggressive thoughts and angry feelings.” This evidence supports that the old adage 'you are what you eat' also applies to what you feast your eyes on.

Alexander Graham Bell: Work With All Our Might
On March 10, 1876 at the age of 29, Alexander Bell uttered his famous words over a new device that was about to change the world, “Watson, come here; I want you” was the instruction he gave to his assistant, Thomas Watson.
Bell once stated, “Self-education is a lifelong affair. There cannot be mental atrophy in any person who continues to observe, to remember what he observes, and to seek answers for his unceasing how and why about things.”
By learning from his example we can source the motivation to work with all our might.

The Demise of Law
Does "Western" culture and law truly find root in the Bible or are they relatively new creations conceived during the enlightenment and reformation eras? Is the Bible to be excluded as a primary source?
In order to understand the development of Canadian Law, we must first look at the history of British Law. In England, the Anglo-Saxons were united as a people under the leadership of Alfred the Great. He ruled from AD 871 to 899 and “He appended to his laws a free translation of the Ten Commandments and an abridgment of the enactments of Exodus 21 to 23.”

Does Science Support Evolutionary Theory?
There is an assumption made in most schools, universities and even in the production of documentaries on nature, that all scientists are unanimous in their belief that life as we know it on earth, evolved over time from rudimentary non-life into viruses and cells that then, over eons of time, developed into the lifeforms we know today. Is this assumption correct? Does science support Evolutionary Theory?

Protect Your Child from "Progressive" Education
Public education in much of the English-speaking world is failing both students and the society, whose tax dollars are intended to pay for educating its youth.
Not only are “progressive” or “child-centred” education methods ineffective, but the curriculum has also been massively gutted of knowledge by far-left activists who dominate the Faculties of Education and government Education Departments.
What can you do to protect your children from so-called “progressive” education?

Is France Under Attack?
Just before lunchtime on January 7, 2015, two brothers forcibly entered the offices of a weekly newspaper. Brandishing rifles, the men sprayed bullets throughout the lobby killing a maintenance worker. They then forced a woman to show them to the newspaper's offices on the second floor where they continued until a total of 12 lay dead. The Charlie Hebdo attack was, at the time, "France's worst terrorist attack in a generation." It does not hold that distinction today. Is France under attack?

Are You a Good Listener?
Do you want to increase your knowledge? Do you want to make friends? Do you want people to appreciate, trust, and respect you? If so you can start by listening.
The process by which humans communicate verbally is amazingly complex, and misunderstandings are often the result of a breakdown somewhere along that process. We receive a spoken message through our ears, process that message within our brains, decipher the meaning, and then provide an appropriate response. Anywhere along this process, communication can break down.
Our ears have been designed to perceive wide frequencies of sound. They are incredible marvels of engineering. The smallest, most delicate, bones in our bodies are located in our ears.

Archaeology Always Proves the Bible
Rich in fantastical stories, the Bible seeks to illustrate the might of the all-powerful God of Israel. The miracles of His guidance and protection towards His people are stories akin to Hollywood movies today. These stories seem to border on the edge of fables and are often not useful in proving the validity of the Bible – after all many of the events described are unexplainable through natural methods alone. However, the Bible is much more than a compilation of wonderful and fanciful stories. It includes many characters, nations and events that can be scrutinized to reveal its accuracy. Archaeological evidence over the years has proven several accounts in the Bible to be historical events. Let’s examine a few of these events and the supporting pieces of evidence.

Much of the history of the ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah are well known. Preserved in the Bible is an epic anthology from the birth of this storied nation to the division, collapse, and ultimate captivities of the Israelite and Jewish peoples. While the Bible details the Jews’ return to their homeland, the northern kingdom of Israel seemingly became lost to history. What happened to the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel?
