On May 12, 2024, at 4:43 pm, West Jefferson Police officers were dispatched to Amazon CMH5 building, located at 6400 State Route 29, for reports of an Active Shooter. According to Police, the 22-year-old Ali Hamsa Yusuf came up behind the supervisor and pointed a gun at the supervisor’s head, but the gun apparently jammed and the bullet barely missed the supervisor, who was not injured. There were more than 100 workers inside the building when the shooting occurred, officials said. When officers arrived on the scene, Yusuf had left.
About 90 minutes later, officers found Yusuf in the area of Georgesville and Clime roads, where a shootout occurred between Madison County Sheriff's Office, CPD, West Jefferson Police Department and Yusuf. Starting from Yusuf’s first shot, the continuous exchange of gunfire lasted eight seconds. After the shooting, the officer who groaned realized he had been shot. The bullet from Yusuf's gun that hit the unidentified Columbus police officer, struck him in his bulletproof vest and he was not seriously injured. Yusuf was transported to Doctors West Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:57 p.m.. No injuries were reported inside the Amazon facility.

Woman charged with killing adopted son, tied boy’s arms, threw him into pool
Homicide detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Florida arrested and charged 36-year-old Patricia Saintizaire, of Davenport, with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and tampering with a witness in the death of her 4-year-old son who she adopted from Haiti.
The child was brought to the United States and adopted by Saintizaire in April 2023. Deputies were notified on May 2 by staff at Orlando Health Medical Center that a 4-year-old child died under what appeared to be suspicious circumstances. The child’s body was taken to the District 9 Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The medical exam at the hospital revealed an abdominal bleed that emergency surgery could not rectify. Detectives learned that the child was first brought to Heart of Florida hospital in Davenport by Saintizaire, but due to his significant injuries, he was flown to hospital in Orlando. Saintizaire repeatedly denied to detectives that she ever used physical discipline as punishment. Her husband told detectives that he does not discipline the children, but that she does. During initial interviews with the child’s older teen brother, he denied being abused or witnessing abuse. However, after placing that teenager into custody of Florida Department of Children and Families, he then said to detectives that Saintizaire told him, “When they ask you something, say nothing so I don’t get in trouble.” He also alleged that she threatened to kill him with a gun. Detectives also learned that when the victim got home from school recently, the older brother went to another room for approximately two hours and did not see or hear what happened to the 4-year-old. Saintizaire then told the brother to bring food to the victim, but he noted that the child was unable to walk on his own and struggled to sit up at that time. Saintizaire told the older brother that the victim was “faking it” and urged him to feed him. The victim then became unresponsive and the older brother began performing CPR, telling Saintizaire they needed to take him to the hospital.

Bodycam shows man shot by deputies after he rushed at them with a Knife
At approximately 8:15 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, Deputies responded to a residence on the 6500 block of Campanile Street in Rio Linda for a suicidal subject. The caller reported that her brother, later identified as 38-year-old Christopher Gilmore, had schizophrenia, was armed with a knife, and was cutting himself in a bathroom. Prior to Deputies arriving on scene, all family members had exited the residence, and Gilmore was inside by himself. The Sacramento Metro Fire Department staged nearby until Deputies could arrive.
When Deputies arrived, they attempted to call him outside the residence, but he refused. Per one of Gilmore’s roommates, Gilmore made statements that he wanted to die by “suicide by cop.” Deputies learned Gilmore was on probation and had just been arrested six days earlier (March 17, 2024) by another agency for PC 69 (violently resisting an officer) and other charges, including vandalism, DUI, and drug charges. The courts had since released him on his own recognizance as a pre-trial release.
Gilmore then unexpectedly opened the garage while holding a knife. Deputies backed away toward the sidewalk and street while directing him to drop the knife and exit toward them. Gilmore refused as Deputies continued to attempt to give him directives.
After several minutes into this interaction, Gilmore exited the garage while still holding the knife and began advancing toward Deputies. One Deputy deployed multiple less lethal shotgun rounds at Gilmore to try and stop and disarm him, but they were ineffective. Despite multiple directives to stop and being hit with multiple less lethal rounds, Gilmore continued to advance and came within just several feet of a Deputy while still holding the knife before the Deputy shot him with his service weapon.
Deputies administered first aid on the scene, including applying tourniquets and a chest seal until fire personnel arrived. Unfortunately, Gilmore was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Green Bay Cop Shoots at Assault with Deadly Weapon Suspect Through Windshield After He Was Shot At
Officer Skenandore did observe both the complainant’s vehicle and the red vehicle operated by Ventura. Officer Skenandore conducted a U-turn, crossing over the median and began following the vehicles. Officer Skenandore followed the two vehicles as they turned left onto Green Ridge Drive. At that point, the complainant’s vehicle pulled over to the side of the road and allowed Officer Skenandore to go past him. Officer Skenandore noted that the red vehicle, driven by Ventura, continued at a slow rate of speed and came to a stop in the middle of the road on Green Ridge Drive. Ventura then exited the vehicle and produced a black handgun and pointed it at Officer Skenandore. Officer Skenandore then ducked and drew his own duty handgun. Officer Skenandore discharged his duty weapon through the windshield at Ventura. Officer Skenandore then began driving at a faster rate of speed in order to get to a safer location, while informing dispatch that shots had been fired and that he needed assistance. Officer Skenandore retrieved his patrol rifle and exited his vehicle. He could still see Ventura standing on the side of the street and he could see an object in his hands. Officer Skenandore fired what he estimated to be two rife rounds at Ventura. Officer Skenandore observed Ventura then retreat out of sight to the west of where he was originally standing. Officer Skenandore took cover behind a van, then a tree, then another vehicle, as other officers began to arrive on scene. Shortly after other officers arrived on scene, they heard screams from a woman later determined to be Ventura’s girlfriend, who lived at the residence immediately to the west of where Ventura’s vehicle was stopped in the street. As officers approached the residence, Ventura was observed on the ground in the front yard of his girlfriend’s residence with an apparent gunshot wound to his head. Several officers heard Ventura’s girlfriend state that Ventura had shot himself in the head. Ventura was later transported to St. Vincent Hospital where he was pronounced deceased not long after arrival.
