Eric Swalwell (D-CA) chastised House Republicans who called hearings to decide whether to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress, yet failed to show up on Thursday so they could attend former President Donald Trump’s porn star hush money trial in New York instead. “Well, it’s nice to see that some of my colleagues on the other side can make it today. I don’t know if that means there weren’t enough seats in the courtroom in New York,” Swalwell said. “But, I know the Oversight Committee canceled the meeting that was supposed to happen right now on this same matter so that they could be at the president’s trial. Some members will miss this vote ’cause they want to be at the president’s trial, and I don’t think anything could animate the phrase ‘do nothing Congress’ more than missing votes and canceling hearings to go up and be a spectator at your cult leader’s trial. That is the definition of ‘Do-nothing Congress.'”

Tur began by talking about the jury members trying not to make eye contact with the former president. “Another thing that struck me…when the jury walks in, they walk right by Donald Trump, they walk right by the table he’s sitting. None of them look at him. The second they get in front him, right in his line of sight, they all look down. Each one of them, one after the other. They make a point not to look at him, as if there’s something almost — I’m not them, so I can’t accurately say what they’re feeling with any exact knowledge — but it almost seems like there’s a certain intimidation quality just walking by the former president of the United States.”

Fox Business host Neil Cavuto grew frustrated with White House economic advisor Jared Bernstein on Thursday after Bernstein side-stepped questions about a false inflation claim President Joe Biden has repeatedly made. Biden has earned some pushback in recent interviews for claiming that inflation was 9% when he entered the White House. Numerous fact-checks have called this claim false as inflation was actually just above 1% when he came into office. “Jared, why does he keep saying that?” Cavuto asked Bernstein on Thursday.

Whoopi Goldberg defended Kansas City Chief’s kicker Harrison Butker over his controversial college commencement speech at Benedictine College. Over the weekend, Butker’s speech at the Catholic college made headlines as he slammed abortion access, LGBTQ pride, and women in the workplace. Following the controversy, the NFL released a statement noting that Butker gave the speech in his “personal capacity” and that his views differ from those of the organization. In his speech, Butker slammed “diabolical lies told to women” regarding abortion and claimed Pride Month represented “deadly sins.” He then encouraged men to “be unapologetic in your masculinity” while fighting “against the cultural emasculation of men.”

Murphy joined Bartiromo on Thursday morning and when discussing the upcoming debates between the president and Donald Trump, Murphy took a side road and made a wild accusation. “I’ll just be very plain and simple. I was at the State of the Union address and Joe Biden must have been jacked up on something that day,” the Republican lawmaker said. “I absolutely believe that from a medical viewpoint and have a good bit of knowledge that happened. He can’t stand and he can’t stand under the lights for that long and I don’t think he can keep a concept in his brain that long.”

CNN’s Anderson Cooper admitted he would “absolutely” have doubts in Michael Cohen as a witness after witnessing an “extraordinary cross-examination” by Donald Trump’s lawyer at his Manhattan hush money trial. After attending the trial, Cooper joined CNN to recall the “dramatic” moment where Trump’s lawyer “appeared” to catch Cohen in a lie. Cohen alleges he fronted hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels with the knowledge and endorsement of Trump. The payments were to conceal an alleged affair that the former president has denied. He’s also denied any knowledge of hush money payments as he faces more than 30 felony counts for falsifying business records.

It took Republican National Committee Co-Chair Lara Trump mere hours to deem the two presidential debates Donald Trump had just agreed to, “rigged.” On Wednesday, the former president agreed to two debates with President Joe Biden. The first will be June 27 on CNN and the second will air Sept. 10 on ABC. The debates will not have audiences and the candidate who is not recognized to speak will have his microphone cut, presumably to avoid a repeat of the first presidential debate of 2020, which was a debacle of the first order.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) claimed on Wednesday that if he were in President Joe Biden’s shoes, he would have “immediately pardoned” former President Donald Trump. During a discussion with MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle about Trump’s ongoing hush money trial in New York, Romney said, “I think President Biden made an enormous error. He should have fought like crazy to keep this prosecution from going forward. It was a win-win for Donald Trump.” After Ruhle questioned, “Is that Joe Biden’s job?” Romney replied, “I’ve been around for a while. If LBJ had been president and he didn’t want something like this to happen, he’d have been all over that prosecutor saying, ‘You better not bring that forward or I’m gonna drive you out of office.'”

Biden has been criticized by progressive Democrats for providing financial and military aid to Israel amidst the war with Hamas in Gaza. However, some pro-Israel Democrats have called out Biden for not providing crucial intelligence regarding Hamas leaders to Israel.

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday if President Joe Biden’s debate challenge to former President Donald Trump that morning was meant to serve as a distraction from “bad polling.” Jean-Pierre immediately began shooting down Doocy’s line of questioning during a White House press conference as he dove into the campaign and two planned debates that were quickly agreed to by Biden and Trump after the president’s challenge. “I know you don’t want to talk about campaign stuff, so I would just look for your —” Doocy began before Jean-Pierre jumped in.
