With that in mind, all month long we are going to be addressing some of those difficult feelings that many of us wrestle with and see what the advent of Christ over 2,000 years ago means for us today.

Sometimes, doing the work and making consistent healthy choices can get really hard. Sometimes, it can even become incredibly lonely when you feel like you are the only one moving in that direction. Eventually, you may find yourself questioning if the goals you are working towards are even attainable and, if they are, are they even worth it. This week, we are tackling the question of “Why do we date?” We’re going to learn how modern dating got started, try to determine what some of the goals of dating are and ask ourselves if there is a better way to get where we are really wanting to go. Over 35 years ago, feminist icon and renowned Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, had already made clear her thoughts that the historic judgement of the Roe V. Wade case was weak and faulty on a constitutional basis and would probably be overturned as “bad law” even though she was a vocal supporter of the outcome. When it comes down to it, the Supreme Court’s decision this past summer to overturn that ruling was built on that same thought. According to RBG and many others before and after her, the 1973 case was constitutionally unfounded based on the arguments made, which is why almost 50 years later, the ruling was overturned. Regardless of any of our personal beliefs or preferences, those are the facts. Understandably, the media was a firestorm of outrage and fear as many around the country didn’t know what this turn of events meant for them.

The political climate for more than the past decade has been increasingly volatile, with hostile rhetoric being thrown from both sides - not only dividing neighbor from neighbor but families under the same roof. Is dividing families and demanding others to do the same due to political beliefs ever a healthy response and, if it is, are we at that point yet?

Today, we’re focusing on Matt Walsh’s “What is a Woman?” and digging into why this question has become so controversial. We’ll also discuss why how we answer this question impacts the way we move forward in building relationships with others and, most importantly, the Bible’s answer to all of this - if it even answers this question at all.

Today, we are focusing on 1 Corinthians 13:7 - “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” This kind of love seems like an impossible task. I mean, endures all things? Doesn’t there have to be some line where we can cut off a toxic or one-sided relationship?

In 1 Corinthians 13:6, we read that love “does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” This presents a real challenge for the typical American reader in 2022. Who determines right and wrong? Who determines what is true? Isn’t the truth subjective? What about my truth?

Are you a passionate person, or are you really just a jerk? 🤔 People can find themselves in relationships where they can be seemingly deeply in love and sweeping each other off of their feet one moment and then screaming for all the neighbors to hear and throwing curling irons, blow dryers and tv remotes at each other the next. When asked about their behavior, they will often say something like, “We’re both just really passionate people,” followed up with, “but that’s what we love about each other.” Today, we’re going to analyze that defense and see if it holds up.

For some of us, we keep getting our relationships wrong because our definition of love is wrong, too. This month we’re going to be looking at the definition of love found in 1 Corinthians 13 and compare it with our more modern conceptions. If your definition of love needs an upgrade, stay tuned.

Many modern theologians have taken a more progressive view on the Biblical definition of marriage while still others say that they are outdated and need to be left in the past. Today, we’re jumping right into the controversy as we see what the Bible really says about marriage.

With the rise of social media, the typical levels of hostility that people are willing to publicly inflict on someone else has grown exponentially so, as followers of Christ, how do we respond? The answer may sound simple, but it’s one thing to say and a completely different thing to be able to walk it out.

Now that we who God is, what He has done and how we can have relationship with Him, how does this affect our friendships?

This month has been great as we’ve finally been able to talk about the most important relationship of all; our relationship with God. We’ve shown that there is good evidence to believe that God is real, that we can rely on the historical validity of the Gospels including and most importantly the resurrection of Christ, and how His life, death and resurrection paved the way for us to be able to have our sins forgiven, our debt cleared, and a restored relationship with God. That is really great news! But, that is not all that happens when we place our trust in Christ. He also restores our relationship with people, but how? That is what we will be discussing today!

Is God loving and accepting or judgmental and condemning or is the truth somewhere in-between? In order for us to have a relationship with Him, we need to know where we stand. Today, we’re going to find out what came between us and God and how this relationship could be reconciled.

Obviously, for us to have a relationship with God, there has to be a god to begin with. We used the Kalam Cosmological Argument to give grounded, scientific evidence to show why there has to be a spaceless, timeless, immaterial, uncaused, powerful, personal being responsible for the creation of the universe. That’s a great start, but that only gets us into the realm of Theism, or belief in a god; it doesn’t yet get us to the place of figuring out which god of all the different world religions is the one true God if any of them are right at all.

Is there a God? This is a question that humanity has wrestled with for as far back as human history goes. All month long we’ll not only be offering our answer to the question, “is there a God,” but we’ll do our best to introduce you to who He is and let you know what this means for you!
