11.17.2023 Carolina v UC Riverside (THSN Sync + Pregame & Postgame)
Only a couple of games in, the Heels are almost to the end of the trial period of the schedule. The subscription begins during the ensuing holiday tournaments and beyond. Carolina needs to sharpen their skills while Coach Davis aims to get closer to a near-final lineup over the bulk of the season.
Against UC Riverside, North Carolina faced some size, but ultimately a team decidedly less talented. Before you ask the question, yes the Heels are wearing blue at home for just the fourth time in recorded history. 1990, 2013, and 2020 (special Nike jersey, buzzer-beater loss to dook) were the previous known instances.

Carolina Blue on Screen:
If you notice different blues from our graphics versus the broadcaster's graphics on the screen note this. North Carolina athletics, my love, has had color durability and consistency issues from a marketing perspective for years. We use Nike’s version of Carolina Blue, hex code 85ADEA for all UNC video content on this channel because it matches the uniforms, shoes, court, etc. You will notice ESPN and indeed other media outlets use the branding standard hex code 7BAFD4 the Tar Heels publish but it does not match virtually anything other than Carolin's marketing guide and the basket supports in the Smith Center. The discrepancies you see with the content on this channel are not my own but North Carolina’s inability to commit to one blue. We will remain consistent with the 85ADEA color for matching purposes.

11.12.2023 Carolina v Lehigh (THSN Sync)
The Heels started the 23-24 campaign with a victory but looked a little shaky on defense while seeming much more comfortable on offense than a season ago. Looking to continue the path forward Carolina took on Lehigh in the Smith Center for one of the few actual home games in the fall portion of this basketball season.

10.14.2023 Carolina v Miami (THSN Sync + Pregame & Postgame)
Unfortunately, Carolina Football has traditionally struggled in big games like this. Big setting, name-brand opponent, and high stakes? You betcha. But Carolina has never had the combination of Drake Maye and Tez Walker before. Until now.
On this Saturday night, the Tar Heels embraced the moment and took a massive step toward entering the national conversation, exactly where they belong.
Re-live the fantastic, although penalty-laden, win against Miami through not rose-colored glasses but instead through a lens of a lighter shade of blue - Carolina Blue.

11.11.2023 Carolina v dook (THSN Sync + Pregame & Postgame)
At this stage in the 2023 campaign, the Heels have blown virtually every chance they had at something really special. But they arrive at a rivalry game not without stakes. First, an ACC Championship Game appearance is still on the table, albeit an accomplishment that would be threading a needle. So for that, this game was a must-win. There were perhaps even larger stakes with this game in all probability being Drake Maye's final home game in Kenan Stadium.
As the fourth quarter unfolded a similar scenario presented itself. The Heels were up two scores and their knees started buckling. As with any rivalry game it would of course end in dramatic fashion.

3.23.1957 National Championship Carolina v Kansas BEST Version Ever Seen
Frank McGuire and his Tar Heels, largely recruited from New York, take on the mighty Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain and the Kansas Jayhawks for the 1957 NCAA National Championship.
Unique note: this is the only version of the 1957 Championship you can find with the halves and overtimes broken up with scores to help you follow what's happening in the game.
Program note: there is no known audio for this game except for the final 6+ seconds of gameplay of the third OT. That final 6+ seconds of gameplay is included in this re-watch. All other sound effects of the crowd, sneakers squeaking, etc are artificially inserted to create some atmosphere when watching this game.

1.25.1984 Carolina v Wake Forest (THSN Sync - Woody Durham)
This is part of the Woody Durham collection on the Native Content YouTube channel.
Playing in their sixth ACC conference game and fifteenth overall for the 1983-1984 season, the Tar Heels were facing familiar Tobacco Road opponent Wake Forest. Carolina came into the game an unblemished 14-0 and hoping to continue their winning ways.
The Heels would dismantle the Deacs and manage to get biscuits before biscuits were a thing. Overall Carolina would sail through the regular season with a perfect ACC record and a 26-1 overall record having just one loss to Arkansas and their two eventual top 10 NBA draftees Joe Klein and Alvin Robertson.
This would be the last of three seasons for Michael Jordan who would leave North Carolina with just one National Championship but a reputation for a guy who just might be something special at the next level.

4.4.2005 Carolina v Illinois (THSN Sync - Woody Durham + Postgame)
When legendary Coach Dean Smith suddenly retired just weeks before the start of the 1997 season the North Carolina Tar Heels knew replacing a Hall of Fame coach wouldn't be easy, if at all possible. UCLA never replaced Wooden. Kentucky has from time to time found temporary stewards for Rupp. With a season about to embark, UNC looked to long-time assistant Bill Guthridge to take on the program, but being a little long in the tooth himself, it would certainly be shortlived.
During Coach "Gut's" tenure, ACC Conference play did not produce staggering results, but in four seasons he led Carolina to two Final Fours. Not bad at all. When he retired Carolina tapped former player and 1982 National Champion Matt Doherty, who in his first year was AP National Coach of the Year. But in year two, things went south finishing with just 8 wins in 28 games. They somewhat recovered in year three with a dynamic recruiting class, but the damage was done. That's when Roy Williams left Kansas to come home.
In just his second year at the helm in Chapel Hill Roy Williams had molded Matt Doherty's recruits, added Marvin Williams, and took them to a National Championship game against the highly touted Illinois Illini. The game was dubbed "The team (Illinois) versus the talent (Carolina). In the end talent was the team to beat and Roy Williams finally got his first of three National Championships.

12.2.2023 Carolina v Florida State (THSN Sync + Pre & Postgame)
In recent seasons when the Tar Heels started sluggish or got punched in the mouth early, they had struggled to respond. Certainly, the 2022-2023 Carolina Basketball team found challenges in overcoming obstacles. But, here in the 2023-2024 season and its first ACC game of the year, the Heels struggled to get started and took two big haymakers from the Seminoles yet in the second half they stood tall. Carolina sustained multiple double-digit deficits but elevated their performance to take a double-digit lead of their own and win the ballgame.

But today, October 7th, 2023, a mere 271 days after Tez attended his first UNC class, the entire football nation watched in awe as Tez Walker and the Tar Heels finally took the field together in Kenan Stadium.

9.23.2023 North Carolina @ Pitt (THSN Audio Synced + Post Game)
The Heels traveled to Acrisure Stadium for a Saturday night primetime matchup against Pitt with elevated stakes. Not only was Carolina looking to go 4-0 for just the second time in 40 years, but they would be facing a quarterback whom they last saw when he was under center at BC. The previous game facing QB Jurkovec at Boston College was in a COVID-forced empty stadium and the linebacker-sized quarterback gave the Heels fits.
Carolina got punched in the mouth early with Pitt scoring on its first two possessions, but the Heels responded very positively. The game turned into a bit of a highlight reel for the Stormtrooper-adorned Tar Heels with Kobe Paysour snatching a touchdown from Drake Maye's LEFT arm, and Alijah Huzzie went off on defense and special teams returning a punt for a TD.

Still seeking his first title, the big game they all said he couldn't win, Coach Smith would finally break through with perhaps the greatest college basketball team ever assembled.
Freshman Michael Jordan alongside James Worthy, Sam Perkins, Jimmy Black, Matt Doherty, and more finally brought Coach Dean Smith the long-awaited title ring Tar Heel national had been longing for.

4.5.1993 Carolina v Michigan (THSN Audio Sync - Complete Pre & Post Game) National Championship
April 5, 1993 in New Orleans, LA at the Superdome. North Carolina and Dean Smith took on Michigan and the Fab Five. The largely unknown Tar Heels stood toe to toe with the most talked about basketball team in NCAA history in the Fab Five, and it was Michigan who blinked in the end. This marked Dean Smith's second and final National Championship in a career filled with accolades and influence that changed basketball multiple times.
The presentation of this game features the original archived video of the game meticulously synced with Hall of Fame radio broadcaster Woody Durham. The radio broadcast included also features pre-game and post-game with Mick Mixon and the Tar Heel Sports Network team.

2.25.1995 Carolina vs. Kentucky - Elite 8 (Sean McDonough)
Tar Heels beat Kentucky to advance to the 1995 Final Four. Little known fact, Kentucky head coach Rick Pitino spent $25,000 the night before on a celebratory catering bill in full anticipation of beating the Tar Heels. Assistant Coach Dave Hanners learned of the catering bill and shared with lead assistant Bill Guthridge, who subsequently shared with head coach Dean Smith. Coach Smith made no team-wide announcement, but he shared with future NBA All-Stars Jerry Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace. They made sure of Carolina Victory. No one knows if Pitino was able to cancel that order, but the Heels beat the Tar out of Kentucky to spoil that pre-supposed celebration.

3.11.2011 - Carolina vs. Miami - The Assist (Mike Hogewood)
The Heels played terribly the entire game, but they really pushed it to the limit late and exited with a win they probably didn't deserve. None the less, Kendall Marshall pulled out a victory with a little magic trick late.

3.16.2010 - Carolina v Bill & Mary - NIT @ Carmichael (Brad Nesslar)
After a disappointing season in which Carolina celebrated its 100th year of basketball and following a National Championship a season before, the Heels settle for the NIT. At the time, the Smith Center seats were being renovated, so the game was held at the legendary Carmichael Auditorium.

This video is not monetized because it's not as a whole my original source content but does include my original artwork and my interpretation of how the events unfolded using THSN audio, ESPN video, my artwork, and my editing to compile it together. All of which to gather from our surroundings what was wanted and needed, and make of it something more. Something wholly original in its presentation and thereby a work of art.
