So, I used this opportunity to fix the feeder to teach my daughter how to MIG weld. She was very nervous to use the welder. I reassured that she could learn to weld. I suited her up with all of my welding gear including leather shirt, gloves and auto darkening welding hood. It was a lot of gear, and she was stressed out. I hooked up our Lincoln 210 MP welder and set it to weld 12-gauge metal. There was no wind so there was no problem with the gas being blown away while welding. After her first two welds she started to build confidence and was able to lay down a couple of welds. My son wore a welding helmet and watched intently as his sister welded. It took three times as long to weld the livestock feeder back together. It was worth every minute to capture this learning moment between me and my kids.

So, we built a car track to carry a car that rammed into a house of cards and started a chain of events. The next was Joseph ran his truck of the cards and flattened the house of cards which started the next destructive process. This initiated a line of dominos that fell over and started a game of mouse trap. Once the mouse trap game began, we waited for the mice to be caught.

In between visiting these areas we experienced NASA, a Buc-ees gas station, Galveston beaches, beach houses, WW2 Battleship, WW2 Submarine, perfect parks for kids, ice cream and camping areas. This was an amazing trip.

I show my process of removing the nuts from the tree using a machine referred as a Shaker. The machine shakes the tree vigorously to dislodge the nuts from the tree. After the nuts are removed from the tree they must dry. Do not miss the next video where I show the process to moving the nuts into rows.

We went fishing as a family in places like Pinecrest, Clarks Fork, North Fork of the Stanislaus River, Middle Fork of the Stanislaus River, and Sand Flat. We were able to spend time with family and enjoy the scenery. More importantly everyone caught trout. Here is a sample of our fishing trips.

We take an afternoon and practice some of the most challenging skills that the school will throw at us. We start with the twisty course that challenges our tight turning skills. Next we move on to the balance beam course that test our ability to ride in a straight line. Finally we show off our speed in the fast course. Each event is designed to test our biking ability. After 10 years I decided to take up backpacking and bring my kids along. I only planned for a one-night trip into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Our destination was Boulder Lake in the Iceberg Wilderness near Clark Fork in the Stanislaus National Forrest. The area is located off of Highway 108 in California. We started the hike at 11 am and made it to our camping destination around 2 pm. It was the longest hike my children had ever been on. We never made it to the lake but made the best of the trip. Prior starting our hike we met a State Fish and Wildlife employee that let us help plant Trout in the river. On our way out home, we stopped and fished in the North Fork of the Stanislaus River. This was a great trip and was nice to get back into hiking and introduce the fun to my kids.

We set out to create a fun video that the kids could show off their spy skills and slip through the defenses. Just making a laser web was not enough. I gave the kids a goal of stealing candy and becoming their own superhero. The kids became the Surf and Turf Kids. Watch as they defeat all of the obstacles and steal the candy from their dad.

We found a company that is selling freeze dried candy locally and had to try some of their offerings. The new company is called The Parched Goat. They create all of the freeze-dried candy in their store. We were really impressed with their operation and want to support local small businesses. While visiting there store we were blown away by all of the different candy options. It was a difficult decision, but everyone only got to pick one candy. The candy we chose was freeze dried soar skittles, Ice cream cone, Hi Chew, Saltwater Taffy Black Licorice swirl, Magical Unicorn, and Rocky Road. The Crunch is very satisfying from each candy. This led into a much longer more elaborate project then was anticipated. In the Crunch Labs video Mark Rober challenged his viewers to create a house of cards and destroy it in an interesting way. So, here we go. We started by gathering all of our supplies which included: hot wheels track, matchbox cars, Legos, Duplo's, hot wheels loop to loops, Mouse Trap game, checkerboard, Mexican Train Dominos, and every playing card we own. We started with the hot wheels track to know where our car would exit into our house of cards. The house of cards which turned into a stadium took 2 and a half painstaking hours to create. It also required 3 decks of playing cards, 2 decks of Uno cards, 1 deck of Phase 10 cards, and 1 deck of Skip bow cards. Plus, a glue stick to help hold the cards together temporarily. Next came the Mexican Train Dominos. This part was a mistake, because they are thinner than regular dominos and proved to be extremely difficult to stand up. Mouse trap took some tinkering. After an hour of adjusting items on the game board we added a penny to the side of the swinging arm with yellow bucket to add more speed. It worked but cost us a CENT. Now that all of the parts were built and perfected to work consistently it was time for the car to destroy the cards. Big problem the house of cards or stadium of cards were constructed to not fall easily. So, Joseph received the green light to be the destructive force. He was elated with the opportunity. On the cue of the car entering the stadium and breakneck speeds he destroyed the Stadium with his newly created Lego John Deere Tractor and Trailer. The dominos were triggered, and the mouse trap game worked flawlessly. The Lego character was captured along with his accomplice one of the mouse trap mice. This was a wonderful project that took 3 times as long as was expected and required a lot of patience, brain breaks and reengineering. It was a time to remember for Charlotte, Joseph and Eleanor how they created something from there toys that took seconds to destroy, but hours to create. If there is anything to draw out of this project is that Creating is far more difficult than destroying. That lessons should help them remember how easy it can be to drag a person down or a project rather than encouraging and helping to create. Thanks for Watching!!!

What we ended up doing is experimenting with different nontoxic household chemicals and created our version of Elephant Toothpaste. It was not the huge explosive specimen that can be viewed on YouTube. We used what we could get out hands on and made something that we could enjoy watching the energy of putting different chemicals together and seeing what happens. This was a great experiment that cost around $30. The look on the kids' faces as they watched the toothpaste expand and spew out of the bottles was priceless. I would not have changed anything. I will try to attempt this experiment again someday.

The 3 beaches we visited were New Brighton California State Beach, Sunset California State Beach, and Pajaro Dunes Sunset State Beach. All three beaches were amazing to spend the day. We explored New Brighton State Beach and found lots of shells. Day 2 we spent the day at Sunset State beach where we Surf Fished and caught a Dungeness Crab that we successfully released. The final day was spent near Pajaro Dunes Resor, which is also on Sunset State Beach. Our camping location was at the KOA Santa Cruz Holiday. This was an amazing place to take the whole family. It is filled with amazing amenities. Some our favorites were the heated pool, Giant Pillow, clean bathrooms, and the huge playground.

The recipe for this ice cream is: 2 quarts of Heavy Whipping Cream 1 quart of Half and Half 3 cups of granulated Sugar 3 Tablespoons of Vanilla (The mixture makes 6 quarts of ice cream) Mix all ingredients and dissolve the sugar in the liquid. After all of the sugar is dissolved chill the mixture for at least an hour. Move the mixture to the ice cream mixer of your choice and start the mixing process. The mixing time varies.

We not only wanted to shoot soda bottles only straight up into the sky. In addition, we add a lifting mechanism to launch 2 litter bottles at different angles.
