Sewing McCalls 7537 fitted peasant style dress
Wow... So, this one went way longer than I thought, mostly because I had to rework the bodice pattern, and then rework the fabric bodice. You'll see what I mean. I used three different colors of vibrant corduroy fabric. I also demonstrated a side placed invisible zipper, brass eyeletes to lace up the front, and all kinds of strategic issues. In the end the dress is fun and comfortable and ready for some festivity. I hope you like it!

Sewing McCall's 8292 yoked gathered painted pants
This fun pair of pants has yolks in the front and back a front fly belt loops and an amazingly wide leg that is gathered to the yolk. I made an adjustment to the crotch length that might be helpful for some of you, and I also had to shorten them by quite a bit. The fun part came when I got out my acrylic paints and tried to get creative on the yolk. Hope you enjoy it!

Sewing McCalls 8285 - Flannel Tiered Ruffled Dress
Hello! I love this dress. SOOO Comfortable! Anyhow, this pattern could be used to make a button up top or the dress. I chose to make mine using 3 different coordinating flannel fabrics. Lots of collar detailed instructions here, also a yoke that is not lined so that is easier :) After filming the reveal I wore it out and about doing errands and got several compliments on it from strangers, so I think it is a win! Hope you like it!

Sewing McCalls 7750 - Easy loose fitting top
Hello! This one is actually fairly easy, except the method that the instructions use for putting in the insert really did not agree with me. So I made it twice, their way first and then my way :) I did get to show a cool way to sew in the shoulder seam of the facings. I hope you like it!

Sewing McCalls 7803 Top with creative draping, peplum and invisible zipper
Hi everyone! So, full disclaimer here, going into this project I wasn't feeling in the mood for complex. I was having one of those weeks and wanted simple, easy peasy, but pretty. Sigh...
It did turn out pretty though, so I have that! But it is very, um, creative in the construction and draping tie process. I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for watching!

Sewing Vogue 1738, Part 3 -1948 Pattern as a Coat, Fully Lined with removable fur collar and cuffs
This coat, well, the pattern isn't actually for a coat. I didn't notice. Anyhow, I made it up as a coat complete with bound buttonholes, horsehair braid hemline, removable faux fur collar and cuffs and SO MANY unusual darts and shaping seams. But the result is so pretty. This is one, and I have broken up the process into 3 videos, so get a cup of coffee or tea and take your time. I hope you like it!

Sewing Simplicity 8746 Pleated Kilt Type Skirt with rings and ties
Hello! This skirt pattern has pleats and several of them. But they are actually constructed like darts. I had to make some changes mid-way because the design just did not work with my body shape, but the final results are good! This is going to be a really comfortable, useful wrap skirt. I hope you like it!

Sewing Vogue 1717 Jacket - A Chanel type pattern with Gucci type modifications!
Hello~
This time I am making a jacket to go with last week's pants for a fun suit for my daughter. I am using the Vogue 1717 pattern but modifying the collar and style of pockets. Everything else stays as the pattern calls for. I am using a stable twill and lining it with my typical Bemberg rayon lining. My daughter gave me a photo from a Gucci 2020 runway show as an inspiration photo to base this jacket on, so it gets a bit creative. Hope you like it!

Making the Chanel Jacket #5 - Finishing!
Thank you for watching this video! I am using the book COUTURE SEWING, The Couture Cardigan Jacket, Secrets from a Chanel collector by Claire Shaeffer and I highly recommend that if you want to create this jacket you purchase the book. I am also using the Vogue 8804 pattern, which is also by Claire Shaeffer. I have modified the pattern to fit my needs as far as length and fitting issues. As I strive to follow Claire’s guidance in spirit, I do go on my own as far as technique.

Hello and Welcome to the 4th episode of this saga. Making a Chanel Jacket using Vogue 8804 pattern. These sleeves have a life of their own and are every bit as complicated as the jacket bodice. I ran into a few pattern issues, and had to make another executive decision on buttons. One step closer to completion!

Hello there.
Well, you have made it this far, and so have I... This time I am going to fully assemble the bodice. I am quilting the bodice to the lining, interfacing the hem, securing the lining, sewing on two types of trim, and so much more. Learning more of what works in the pattern for me and what I would do differently.
You are such a trooper for sticking in there!

Making the Chanel Jacket #2 - Pockets! Side front fun! Lining and Pocket Placement! YAY

Hello!
Welcome to Act 2 of this series on making a Chanel jacket using (mostly) couture techniques and based on the Vogue 8804 pattern by Claire Shaeffer.
This time I am making those little pockets. Running into some trim and bulk issues, of course but finding a way out. Also walking through the side seam easing, connecting to the front piece, lining the front section, quilting the side front and finally blind sewing the little bitty pockets on. Whew. What a day!
Thank you so much for watching!

Welcome to the first episode of Making the Chanel Jacket. This is going to be fun! In this video I will explain my overall process, my trim choice, how to make it and shape it to fit the jacket, 101 ways that you need to stabilize the center front piece before you can even get started on buttonholes. And finally, step by step through the process of making the dual buttonholes which are hand embroidered/knotted on the outside and bound on the inside/lining side. Whew~ And we are just getting started!
Thank you SO MUCH for watching!

Sewing Simplicity 9114 Super full, Tiered, Boho Jacket
Hello everyone!
This one is a Dusey! I have to admit, I did make some "design alternatives" here. So this jacket is full, super full! And instead of making a single layer of a light sheer fabric as indicated on the pattern envelope, I went full on "Folk Wear enthusiast meets Stevie Nicks at an Art Festival" vibe. My version is made with two different corduroy fabrics and two different velvet ribbons, and a bright and shiny jewel toned teal lining. And Pockets! I had to add pockets.
So please don't take this too seriously, because obviously, it is a fun times garment! Thank you for watching!

Hello!
This little top is a very basic design, but it is perfect to showcase my wildly bright flannel plaid fabric. I show how to easily match even asymmetrical plaids. Then substitute some extra beading for plain topstitching. Just because :) This one is a fabulous, stress-free pattern and I hope you like it!
