Sea Lions Perform For Divers At Galapagos Islands
“Hey Rudder, hey Fluke, do you hear that?” Asked Gerald as the three sea lion buddies frolicked beneath the waves near Bartholome Island in the Galapagos Archipelago. “I think it is an approaching ship, maybe there are some of those funny looking creatures that wear rubber suits and blow bubbles down here!” “Possibly, since you are usually correct Gerald “ gurgled Rudder the California sea lion.
Within minutes the three sea lion buddies had the audience they had been waiting for days. “Okay, Gerald, let’s show these guys a show they will never forget!” And so the show began. They had been working tirelessly on a new performance and could hardly wait until the scuba divers descended into the theater the sea lions call home. Karl the videographer at this location of Cousins Rock at Bartholome Island made the long journey from Quebec, Canada.
Taking three flights and over twelve hours of travel to arrive. Cousins Rock is a small rock island which is the remains of an eroded crater. On the eastern side of the island, the rock cascades down in a series of recessed ledges strewn with black coral, which happens to appear bright green under the water. Taking cover in the coral is Cousins claim to fame in diving - stunning seahorses.
On site just past 6:15 am made for an early start from the dive resort for Karl and his buddies. Along with many sea lions, divers can also experience many more incredible sea creatures here. Located North-east of the coast of Santiago Island and North of Bartolome, Cousins Rock offers opportunity to watch seahorses, frogfish and nudibranchs. Seahorses can be spotted taking cover in the coral at depths of around 50 feet. Long nosed hawkfish, turtles and many other types of fish are plentiful as well. Eagle rays, golden rays, mobulas and numbers of giant mantas also enjoy getting up close and personal with divers here. Ranging from the surface to approximately 90 feet, this can be a great dive site for all skill levels of diver. At the time Karl was at Cousins Rock the water temperature was a chilly 68 degrees Fahrenheit with visibility ranging from 30 to 60 feet approximately. Not quite tropical but an amazing site nonetheless. Karl mentioned that the sea lions were quite amazing. “If we ignored the sea lions, they would come in close to grab our attention and continue to swim all around us, getting very up close and personal at times” mentioned Karl. Nibbling and biting on the divers fins was not uncommon from the sea lions. Karl and his buddies mentioned this is an amazing location to dive, so if you are considering visiting Galapagos, don’t pass up the opportunity.

Flash Mob Of Sea Lions Is Closely Interacting With Scuba Divers
These incredible marine mammals are not only adorable and graceful but are also highly intelligent and extremely friendly, making them the perfect companions for any diving enthusiast. Their energetic and playful nature is guaranteed to turn anyone's trip underwater into an unforgettable experience.
This fascinating video showcases one such incredible encounter in which scuba divers are met by a group of sea lions, eager to interact with them in various ways, including swirling around them and nibbling on their heads. Though their behavior may seem intrusive at first, it is simply their playful personality shining through which has earned them the name of "sea puppies".
Those who decide to partake in this adventure will soon experience the curious and gentle nature of these friendly mammals and will be able to admire them up close in their natural habitat. Given that sea lions are highly social animals, they can often be seen swimming in large colonies. Therefore, upon entering the water, divers may expect to immediately encounter a large group of curious spectators who want to get a close look at their new visitors.
The sea lions in these situations will most likely swim up to and around the divers or even come face to face with them. Some, on the other hand, might remain cautious and merely pop up behind rocks and corals to get a quick glance at the new creatures surrounding them before building trust and finally greeting them.
Their curious nature may sometimes make them come across as intimidating due to the fact that they will often come quite close to the divers, swirl around them, push them around a bit, nibble on their suits or even the top of their heads just as the one in this video. This may then cause some panic or apprehension on the divers' side, but it is important to remember that all of this is completely harmless as sea lions present no threat to humans.
Many places around the world offer diving with sea lions as one of the most popular activities both with tourists as well as locals. Given that it does not require past experience, anyone is able to partake in this adventure and will be properly informed by their guides in order to make the divers as prepared as possible and the dive a wonderful and unique experience in the crystal clear shallow waters where these adorable marine animals reside.
Those who wish may also take photos or video footage of their underwater trip which will always serve as a reminder of this incredible adventure. Therefore, if you are a fan of diving, snorkeling or any other water activity but you are scared to take the big plunge and take part in shark cage diving, then this is the perfect activity for you.
Just one encounter with these magnificent animals will make you fall in love with them and the beauty of their underwater habitat which is guaranteed to turn your scuba diving experience into an unforgettable adventure.

Impatient Scooter rider causes traffic stoppage
“Ok honey, I am just going to go over to the store and get some smokes!!!” says the retired fellow. “Alright Sweety” replies his wife.” Be careful out there on your scooter and watch for traffic, those drivers are crazy these days!!!” Off goes Bill down the street, whistling one of his favourite tunes by Fats Domino “ain’t that a shame!!! ”. It is a beautiful day to be out enjoying the sunny summer near Vancouver British Columbia and Bill has everything he needs. On his way with a fully charged scooter, his favourite cowboy hat, and his Canadian flag waving off the rear.,Bill seems to have forgotten one thing, his awareness. The mobility scooters of today are incredible. With new battery technology the electric models are replacing the old smelly, air polluting gasoline powered versions of days gone by. Generally these electric scooters come with around a 30 mile range, but for those long distant travellers an extra battery pack can be hooked up to double that range to 60 miles, a great way to enjoy a full day in the fresh air. With this much available distance to travel, Bill may actually keep on going to spend some time at his buddy Fred’s, 5 miles away and still have power to make it back home for dinner. With a maximum speed of around 8 miles per hour, Bill can actually get around pretty swiftly. Although on the day this video was recorded he appeared to be in low speed mode, carrying him along at 4 miles per hour or so. As you will see, Bill was quite oblivious to his surroundings as he approached the intersection. Most definitely for Bill, the crosswalk control signs were displaying the ORANGE HAND telling him to NOT WALK. Well, did Bill think since he was not walking, that signal was not for him? Possibly. Approaching the still red light for him, Brent the driver with this dash cam took note of Bill and was wondering what his actions were going to be…Brent was correct. Bill was Blowing Through the Red ! Along with the other drivers at the intersection, Brent slowed and gave way for Bill to cross and continue on his way. As most know, obeying traffic signals is law for both drivers of motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. Although pedestrians do have the right-of-way over all vehicles it is still safest to be aware that not all drivers follow this rule. Once again pedestrians do have right-of-way if they enter an intersection or cross walk before a DO NOT WALK signal appears as it may have for Bill on this day, but it is best to turn back if just leaving the sideway. Drivers are sometimes in a hurry and it would be a shame to have any pedestrian injured for taking a chance at crossing on a DO NOT WALK signal. In the end we all see that Bill made it across safely and no drivers were impatient enough to honk at him. Lets all hope Bill made it back home after his little venture out on this gorgeous sunny day.

Firefighters Scramble to Save the Hall
Who says Firefighters are trained in all aspects of emergencies? They are, but it is not every day they have to deal with water flooding their place of work, specially from below ground. Big White ski resort in British Columbia is where this all took place. The Big White firefighters had their hands full for a few hours Monday morning getting the flooding under control. It appears a water main pipe broke uphill from the Big White Fire Department, causing water to come roaring down the hill and through the main floor of the fire hall.
Steve Heim, a local resident that lives in Stonebridge Lodge, a condominium complex close to the firehall said "I live in Stonebridge and I could hear water rushing down the side of the mountain so I walked up to see what the situation was and I saw all this water running into the fire hall and they were trying to keep the water out so I helped do some sandbagging." Big White Deputy Chief, Chris Cormack, said a 12-inch water main burst just after 9:30 a.m. so the whole crew had to scramble to prevent the water from damaging the fire hall. "We had some water come into our bays where we park our trucks”. There appeared to be no major damage within the hall. Steve Heim also mentioned that he has a home on the lake in Kelowna. With all the recent high water levels after record snowfalls and summer heat waves, he is all too familiar with sandbagging over the last two years so he stepped in to help the guys with the technique of filling and properly closing the sandbags before stacking. Seeming to be a very simple task to accomplish there is definitely a correct and a poor way to complete the task. “Open, fill, fold over the end, toss on the pile while staggering the joints”. Thats how Steve said its done. Big White resort is the third largest resort in British Columbia, after Whistler-Blackcomb and Sun Peaks. Big White, which is located 56km (35mi) southeast of Kelowna in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. Winter brings skiers, hikers and snow boarders from around the world. Summer brings similar activities such as hiking, cycling and plain enjoying the outdoors . The city of Kelowna, which is down along the shores of Lake Okanagan in the Okanagan Valley is also a gorgeous area for winter and summer activities. As mentioned, snow skiing and boarding up at Big White draws tourists and locals. Snowmobiling is also very popular since the area offers many mountain ranges to explore. Summer brings out the boating enthusiast far and wide. Wine enthusiast love the area as well as it boasts more than twenty wineries. These wineries produce some of the best wines in Canada. Summerhill Pyramid Winery, Quails’ Gate and Cedarcreek Estate Winery are just a few. Thanks to these and other hard working firefighters, some that had to sandbag their hall as seen in the video, are well respected for keeping this area safe. Kelowna is well known for it’s abundance of summer forest fires since it is quite arid in the summer months. Keep up the good work fellas, keep Kelowna safe!

Woman's feet squeak when she walks, how strange!
Squeak ,squeak, squeak! Hearing this when you walk can mean a number of things. For some of us it appears to be our aging bones. For some it is just a squeaky noisy pair of sneakers. And for some such as Elsa in this video, it is that she has ventured to a very interesting beach on Australias south coast. Squeaky Beach is within Wilson Promontory Marine Park, approximately a 2.5 hour drive south of Melbourne, Australia. Visiting from Vancouver, Canada Elsa and her daughter Sarah have been residing in Melbourne with Elsa’s eldest daughter and her husband which are now residents of the area. Taking this three week vacation has been well earned after Elsa has spent 10 months dealing with the tough challenges of treatments for cancer. Aside from family time, Elsa and Sarah made this trek to this amazing beach and to take in all the beauty Australia has to offer. While heading down from the Squeaky Beach car park Elsa and Sarah made their way through coastal scrub, having to jump a little stream before reaching the beach. Taking in views out to distant islands and the granite-studded headlands, they both were in awe. Being a bit of the adventurous type Elsa loved the northern end of the beach, with its large granite boulders creating a maze of passages to explore. Marvelling at the brilliant orange rocks that contrasted perfectly with the clear blue ocean, Elsa and Sarah decided to return and visit at dusk to watch the changing hues at sunset as was suggested by another local visiting the same day. Walking around on the gorgeous sands the two were not finding the SQUEAKY sands that they expected. Was it the water they were also in? Or was it something else? After a few minutes they both discovered just the way to cause the sand to make this amazing sound. “Its all in the walk” Sarah stated. The rounded grains of quartz and how they contact each other under pressure is what makes the squeaking sound when walked on, giving this popular local beach its name. What an amazing place, Australia has many things that are not seen anywhere else on the planet. Enjoy the video and please share Elsa and Sarah’s experience!

Curious Shark Comes To Sniff Out Diver Very Closely
To many who scuba dive, seeing large animals while below the water surface is the key experience they always strive for. To others, it is the small minute creatures that also inhabit the liquid that covers 70 percent of our earth.
Domenico, originally from Italy who has been scuba diving for more than 15 years, finally had the opportunity to travel from his home in Vancouver, British Columbia to Guadalupe Island, Mexico to take in one of the scuba diving experiences listed above. Can you guess which one? Well, it was to be in the water with one of the most feared creatures in the ocean, the Great White shark.
These sharks truly are giants, the adult male sharks range in size from 11' to 13'. The females are larger, measuring 16' to 20' and weighing over 4000 pounds. The Great White male seen here was approximately 12 feet long. When it turned and swam straight up at him, he was both nervous and excited. He was hoping he was just going to keep swimming past so he continued recording&rdquo.
Departing Vancouver International Airport for San Diego California was how the trip began. Domenico was then picked up by the tour operator, transported across the Mexican border with the others in the group to board a yacht which they all would be staying on for 1 week. Guadalupe Island is a small volcanic island approximately 150 miles offshore from Ensenada Mexico, taking 18 hours to arrive while aboard the custom yacht. With up to 150 foot visibility, this location offers the best diving for the opportunity to see these animals. A dive spot so rich with a great white presence that little baiting is needed to draw them in close to the cages.
Diving in Guadalupe is all about getting up close and personal with Great White Sharks. There are many sharks here so you will not be disappointed if thinking "What if there are no sharks when I go?"; This location is a mating grounds for the Great White sharks which follows with an 11 month gestation period. They then return to the Baja Peninsula coast to give birth to shark pups. Once giving birth, the adult sharks then repeat the process and return to Guadalupe.
Kept safe by metal cages, divers can take photos, observe their behaviors and maybe even catch sight of a Great White hunting it’s prey. These dive spots help divers and shark enthusiast, in general, enter a new world of understanding for the great white sharks and their inquisitive nature. Safety for the divers is key for all the tour operators that come here and the rules and regulations are governed by the Mexican government. Break the rules and the operator loses their license. The divers are directed to not touch the animals, no matter how inviting it seems. At the time this was recorded, Domenico was permitted to be outside of the shark cage. This apparently is no longer allowed which makes this footage extra special.
"What an experience it was, I could have touched his fin", Domenico explained. "I will definitely be going back."
Some divers have taken this excursion many times and say: "It never gets boring or old. There are always different things happening as the sharks come extremely close."

Killer Whales Hunt For Dinner In Front Of Spectators
“Dinner time!” Mama Orca rumbles sub sonically through the bay.
“Mmmm! I wonder what’s for dinner today?” asks little Bobby Orca with baited anticipation.
“I hope it’s squid!” exclaims little Suzy Orca.
“I think it’s going to be harbor seal.” Bobby nods authoritatively, blasting a spray of vapor out his blowhole.
“Mom! Bobby says we’re going to have seal…AGAIN!” tattles little Suzy.
“Come and get it! It’s seal!” hollers Mama.
Little Suzy stops complaining and lines up with little Bobby and Papa, as well as Aunt Ora, Uncle Othello, and cousins Augustus and Orville.
They don’t dive in to a prepared meal. They haven’t even killed their meal yet. But mama has already “picked” her dinner from the great supermarket of the ocean, a lone unfortunate seal that strayed too far from his neighborhood into the lonely part of the bay. He shouldn’t have done that. If he was being stalked by one killer whale, the odds of survival might be higher. Against an entire pod of killer whales the seal doesn’t stand a chance. That’s because killer whales, orcas, are organized and strategic. Their brute strength is combined with the planning power of an enormous brain. Led by the matriarch, the pod proceeds in unison. Each member carries its own task responsibly so that the strength of the family is greater than the sum of its parts. The tradition is passed on from parent to child, and millions of years of hunting culture have accrued to a science. A seal must sense terrible finality when it comprehends it is the subject of the hunt.
The whale watchers of this group are very fortunate, but it’s understandable that some may feel sympathy for the poor seal, another intelligent mammal with a social group and behaviors we can identify with. The seal has soft brown eyes, big eyelashes, and sometimes we see them perform tricks at shows just for our pleasure. The seal on dry land will bob its head up and down, appealing for a tossed fish from a friendly human. Here, there is nothing anyone can do but watch. Might as well turn on the camera and capture the savage spectacle!
The whales are probably used to whale watch boats by now, and have no fear of the strange ritual of the two-leggers on board. They aren’t part of millions of years of the regular hunting pattern. To survive the frigid sub-arctic water, whales need blubber in their diet. Squid and fish are nice for the occasional snack, but their continued survival is dialed in to other mammals with thick layers of fat. The killer whale can weigh between 8,000 and 12,000 pounds. That’s pretty huge. In fact, there isn’t another creature on earth, certainly not on land, but also in the sea, that is a threat to the killer whale. They are the apex of all apex predators. Humans can be dangerous to the killer whale, of course, but even humans aren’t prone to specifically targeting killer whales. The one thing in the world the killer whale has to fear is not finding food.

Mom surprises daughter with shocking birthday gift
Elsa gave birth to a baby girl which she named Amanda. Jump ahead 23 years, Amanda meets her future Australian husband Craig in Vancouver, British Columbia and relocates to Melbourne. Ahead a few more years to October 2017, the whole family is devastated when Elsa is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and Amanda the eldest daughter lives over 8,000 miles away. Christmas 2017 brings Amanda and Craig back to Vancouver to spend time with family, allowing Amanda to support her mom through some initial chemotherapy treatments, doctor appointments and multiple blood work trips to the hospital. But like all good things, they come to an end and Amanda must return to her life in Australia, a very difficult departure.
Elsa endured more chemo treatments, major surgery in February 2018, and recovery. Being she is very strong willed, Elsa slowly regains her strength and health with support from her daughter Sarah and husband Brent. As you know, the mental battle is as tough or tougher than the physical battle. Elsa has pulled through both, she is a trooper. Come April 2018 and plans to meet on a vacation in November fall apart, Amanda is very upset. Knowing this is tearing Amanda apart, Brent and Elsa start making plans for her and Sarah to surprise Amanda at her home in Australia.
With the help of Craig, Amanda has no idea that she will soon receive the birthday gift of a lifetime. Departure day from Vancouver comes soon enough, and away go Elsa and Sarah. Sixteen hours in the air, non stop. The ladies await for Amanda to arrive home from errands as she had scheduled the day off work. Soon enough the door opened at their home, Craig greets his wife with a "Hi honey, your gift arrived", as Amanda had been awaiting the arrival of a "gift" from her mom. Watch and enjoy this extra special birthday surprise!

Guy takes on his fear head on
What you are about to witness in this video is one man overcoming a decades old fear of heights. Brent mentioned that his fear of heights seemed to increase around 20 years ago. He recalls his father mentioning that he too had this fear just seem to appear. Both father and son, at one point in their lives, did not experience these fear and anxiety, as both of them would climb tall ladders for trimming trees in the yard. Brent also mentioned he use to have no concerns climbing around on the roof of his house in the middle of the Canadian winter removing snow and ice from gutters. This all changes for him, as it had for his father. Elsa and Brent had planned a day trip to the waterslides, and once there, they both observed many visitors blasting down the 60 foot high” drop of doom” slide. After some time, Elsa asked Brent “ are you going to go down?” She knows of his fears, but also knows he likes to take challenges head on and conquer them. Brent finally said to her ” ok, lets do this” and he walked over and starting his way up the stairway. He did mention” my heart sure was pounding while going up there, and it sure looked high”. The rest is history and he is glad he took this head on and got through it.
Birch Bay Waterslides is a small waterpark in Birch Bay, Washington. Birch Bay is approximately 100 miles north of Seattle Washington and 35 miles south of Vancouver British Columbia Canada on the west coast along the Pacific Ocean. The waterslides is a family owned business that has been actively enjoyed for 35 years. The waterslides business is a valuable, well-respected company that is loved not only by the Blaine community, but also by the greater Pacific Northwest Region and B.C. area. With eight fun, fast slides, a good time is always in store when you visit the park.Along with the eight slides, customers also enjoy the kiddie pool, activity pool, hot tub, gift shop, and concession services. There is a large amount of space to enjoy the day. If you would like to secure a picnic table or one of the few covered table sections, get there early . Elsa mentioned Brent and her arrived around noon and although did not get a covered picnic table, there was still plenty of room to lay out their beach blankets and set up their picnic basket to enjoy the afternoon.

Bad Driving Skills Can Be Expensive
In this video you see what was nearly a very expensive mishap caused by a few poor parking decisions. Elsa was travelling through the parking lot of a local shopping plaza when her good driving skills and alertness made for a good ending. The parking lot is a unique microcosm of complex and puzzling human behaviours. These wide open spaces are ironically some of the most cramped feeling, and driving at 3-6 miles per hour can make people feel as though they’re speeding. What’s worse, parking lots are full of obstacles; shopping carts, other cars, light posts, pedestrians, community fundraiser BBQ’s - you name it. This can make it difficult to navigate, let alone park safely… or properly. Parking is an important part of driving, and sometimes our parking lot etiquette lags behind our capabilities as drivers.
They paint the lines on the ground for a really great reason; they’re guides for your vehicle. Don’t park in between two spaces, or put the front bumper of your vehicle into the parking space in front of you. Do your best to park properly in a space that can accommodate your vehicle. If you’re driving a one-ton pickup truck with a crew cab and a long box, or a large commercial vehicle like the one in this video, consider parking near the back of the parking lot to ensure you don’t damage or inconvenience others or protrude out into the traffic lanes. Spatial sense is key and parking is mostly about patience and finesse, rather than break-neck speed and efficiency. Parking involves a certain spatial sense about your vehicle so you can make good parking decisions meaning this truck driver possibly could have made better parking spot choices…. away from the main congestion. That choice definitely would have reduced the chance of the near collision in this video. Above and beyond location choices, backing in is also a great decision that could have been made, driving straight out forward gives a much better option for seeing oncoming traffic. Thanks to the alert driver of the Mini, a collision was avoided, a very good driving habit: be alert!

Water bombers fight hard to put out massive fire
On July 17th 2018, Pam Anderson, a local resident from Penticton, British Columbia recorded this footage from a beach near her home. Pam stated “There were three fires active when I recorded this. Two across the lake on the Naramata side and one on the left outside of Peachland near Antler Beach”. ”There are eight water bombers working hard on this fire, but they are hard to see once they fly into the smoke”. Fire crews around the Okanagan and Similkameen were responding to dozens of fires and wildfires caused by lightning strikes earlier in the evening.

Dog chases bear away from peeking over fence
Recently with the heat wave hitting the Vancouver British Columbia area, many are very active in their backyard swimming pools. In the suburb city of Port Coquitlam, Tracey's daughter Tess was enjoying a hot afternoon soaking up some sun atop her pool floaty when she noticed a small young black bear cub up one of the evergreen trees just outside of their property. With the screams from Tess, Tracey came running outside and began recording with her phone camera. The young bear cub had begun to descend from the tree, just when Watson, the family dog came running as well and barking up a storm. All this commotion startled the bear cub, causing it to begin his climb back up the tree to safety. This continued climb caused concern for Tracey as she knew where there is a young bear, there is also a mama bear and they do not want mama in the yard. As we know,a bear in a residential yard is not a welcomed event, and when you have a pool with a vinyl liner, this is definitely not something you want to happen. Tracey had stopped recording so she could get her dog Watson under control and back in the house, hoping the quiet would allow the young bear to crawl down the tree and run off into the forest with mama. All in all it was an exciting afternoon for Tess, Tracey and Watson.

Otter Begs For Fish Snack From Friendly Tourist
Have you heard of an ancient Rumble proverb saying “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach an otter to beg fish from tourists and you will get some pretty awesome viral videos”? Well, now you have, and the video at the top of the page is just amazing. Watch as the little cunning otter switches cuteness to the maximum and begs a tourist to feed it a tasty snack!
A friendly otter at Fisherman's Wharf in downtown Victoria, BC had it easy today: instead of diving deep into the bay waters and hunting for itself it got its’ treat from a friendly tourist. The man wanted to feed and take a video of the little cunning otter and took a piece of fish to lore the critter out of the water. It did not take long for the otter to snatch the tasty treat from a man on the dock. Awesome!
Otters are surprisingly cute and funny creatures, it is worth getting to know them better.
They live in those ponds where there is a lot of fish - their main food. They are not much into wide rivers with a rapid current and stony bottoms. They also do not commit themselves to specific ponds for more than a reasonable amount of time: once they consume larger fish and only the small ones remain, they would go in search of a new home.
Otters are wonderful swimmers and divers. They can remain underwater for about 4 minutes, and if they feel danger, they can stay longer. After such a long time in the water, the otter gets in its element: it emerges, replenishes air its reserves and plunges into the water again in search of food. They can move on land without problems: a little bit hunched perhaps, usually moving by short jumps but fast enough, wriggling like a snake.
Otters have the reputation of cute frisky animals. The most favorite entertainment for otter pups is to roll down the slope into the water. In its natural habitat, otters get to live 3-5 years, if not caught by man (for their fur) or die from a disease, or if they live in captivity, for example, zoos or at home as pets they can even live for 8-15 years.
Otters are very friendly and peaceful in nature, so they are often kept as pets. The tamed otter is very funny, affectionate and obedient little critter. It quickly gets used to their owner, enjoys playing with them, easily gives in to training and quickly becomes a universal favorite for every family member.

Fireworks Cause Major Traffic Jam in New York City
Independence Day 2018. This was the day that a group from an Arts Academy in Vancouver British Columbia made the trip to New York City to visit Broadway. The academy teaches many types of music, as well as acting, singing, basically all the art forms to students from the ages of 3 to 73. Anyone with the desire to learn, is welcome. On this night, they were transiting across the Kosciuszko Bridge which passes from Greenpoint in Brooklyn to Maspeth in Queens, just as the evenings fireworks had started. The whole carload was amazed at how the fireworks caused this major traffic jam, on a major bridge. As you will hear, their comments definitely show the surprise being that this does not tend to happen in their home town. The Kosciuszko Bridge is a bridge over Newtown Creek in New York City, connecting Greenpoint in Brooklyn to Maspeth in Queens. The current bridge on the site, a cable-stayed bridge, opened in April 2017 and carries three lanes in each direction. It is one of two planned cable-stayed bridges, with a parallel bridge opening in 2020. An older bridge, a truss bridge of the same name that was located to the north of the first cable-stayed bridge, was originally opened in 1939. It was closed in April 2017 and demolished from July to October 2017.
Once they passed the major traffic which apparently took them over 30 minutes, they were able to reach their hotel and settle in for the night, eager for their next few days in The Big Apple.

The Amazing Race of a Queen Conch
Brent whom recorded this footage, and his wife Elsa, seen in the footage, recently visited Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean for a scuba diving vacation. Descending onto what is known as Katherine’s Reef on the north side of the island made for some beautiful sights. Along with many types of hard and soft corals, thousands of fish, they also got to witness an amazing slow motion activity. This was the movement of a Queen conch. Queen conch is a species of large edible sea snail found in the tropical northwestern Atlantic, from Bermuda to Brazil, reaching up to 35.2 centimetres (13.9in) in shell length. The queen conch is herbivorous and lives mainly in seagrass beds, but this can change depending on the surrounding terrain of the sea floor. Having only a few predators being larger sea snails, starfish, and of course man, the conch generally live around 7 years, but have been know to live 20 years. The conch meat has been enjoyed as a meal for humans for many centuries and their shell has been used for decoration as a “gemstone” and as many of you have heard, a signalling blow horn. The snail moves across the ocean floor by means of a muscle or “foot”. In the video you see a claw shape protruding as the animal begins to move forward, this is the proboscis and it’s eye. These amazing creature move about for feeding as well as mating of course. This footage was shot in late May, right in the middle of mating season. Enjoy the video and see one main reason these animals walk across the ocean floor.

Divers Surface to a Massive Storm
Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean is a gorgeous small island. Only a short flight from the eastern United States this gem of a spot is easily accessible. Brent and his wife Elsa visited Grand Cayman for their second time, this trip took place in May. Although June is well known to be the beginning of hurricane season, and as told " the weather changes very drastically right in the first week of June, ALWAYS! " they still made the trip happen. Well that change came just a week early in 2018. After enjoying a great scuba dive off the northern side of Grand Cayman, everyone surface to what was a light rain shower. All aboard, the boat began its 20 minute, short cruise back to the channel through the reef and home to Compass Point, so everyone thought . Mother Nature had her own plans for this leisurely cruise home, she was definitely not happy this day. After about 10 minutes into the return, winds picked up, and the waves grew drastically. Heavy rains pounded the divers so soon everyone gathered within the small cabin . Most everyone was handling these high seas well except for two divers, and one being Elsa, she fed the fish a little that day. Even though the dive boat was only a few hundred yards off shore, the captain was unable to see the channel markers and opening through the reef. After donning a scuba mask and tightening his windbreaker jacket over his head, the guide was able to get to the bow and search for the markers and channel to guide the captain safely through. Once inside the reef everything smoothed out, except the rain. As we know, tropical storms can fade as fast as they build and this was true that day in May. Within the next 10 minutes, the storm passed and the sun came out just as the boat docked, making it much nicer for everyone disembarking and carrying their heavy scuba gear. Once again Mother Nature had the upper hand.

Woman Runs with The Bulls
Elsa and her husband stopped along the road where they saw a large herd of cattle to have a little visit. The first thing Elsa noticed was the cows , all bulls, seemed quite friendly. Standing along the fences field she began calling them like any animal lover does” here cow, here Betsy, here Chocolate Milk!!” She tried all sorts of phrases and soon they all came running and came very close. Elsa then wanted to see how well they listened and took direction. As you will see it seems the bulls really liked her and listened well. Elsa said” i was surprised how they actually followed me “. Check it out, they are definitely curious animals.

Incredible Character Depictions in the Clouds
Clouds, those white puffy accumulations of moisture up in our gorgeous skies are simply amazing. We look up to Heavens every time we are outside. Do you ever look for shapes of animals, objects, faces, or just take in all the beauty those big puffy accumulations of moisture form? Well the big puffy clouds are called cumulus clouds. Cumulus clouds have flat bases and are often described as "puffy", "cotton-like" or "fluffy" in appearance just like mentioned above. Normally, cumulus clouds produce little or no precipitation, but they can grow into the precipitation-bearing congestus or cumulonimbus clouds. Recently when Brent was returning home from a vacation in the Caribbean and he noted staring out the window as they climbed to their cruising altitude after departing Toronto International airport. With the stormy weather that was building, these cumulonimbus clouds, which are a higher level cloud than their little brothers the cumulus clouds were creating some fun little characters. Brent mentioned he was seeing more and more formations that to him, looked like many cartoon characters and some other characters, one being a president. Brent started recording with his phone and quite enjoyed seeing the formations. Check out this video and see if you see what Brent did. This may just change the way you look up into the skies from now on. Enjoy and feel free to share this video.

Stingray enjoys a hand fed meal
Stingray City is a series of shallow sandbars found in the North Sound of Grand Cayman Island. It is a tourist attraction, where southern stingrays are found in abundance and visitors can pet and interact with the animals. The tours here are very regulated to keep the animals safe with such a great amount of human interaction. The southern stingray seen here has a flat, diamond-shaped disc, with a mud brown, olive, and grey dorsal surface and white underbelly. The barb on its tail is serrated and covered in a venomous mucous, used for self-defense. With such great interaction here, many of these local rays have come to be very friendly and interactive with visitors. The stingrays eat mainly small fish, worms and crustaceans which is why they cruise the sea bed and sandy floor looking for a meal. Larger rays, produce an incredible amount of suction for gathering food and are capable of even sucking a conch snail right out of it’s shell. The day Brent and his wife and step daughter visited stingray city, was the day Brent got to experience just how these rays gather food. Once their tour arrived at the site, they were all given a background on the rays, how they feed and how to handle them. When feeding squid to the rays, which they love, everyone was instructed to “keep your thumb tucked inside your fingers “ saving you from having your thumb sucked between the hard bony serrated plates they use for grinding food. Another thing Brent forgot, as you will see. After a short instruction from Britney, one of the guides, Brent was game to feed, and cuddle with one of these amazing animals. After a little kiss on the nose of the stingray for good luck, Brent clasped the squid in his hand and made the offering. “ It was a very cool experience “ Brent mentioned. “ They sure do have a lot of suction”.

Lab struggles in very strong currents
Deception Pass is a strait separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island, in the northwest part of the U.S. state of Washington. It connects Skagit Bay, part of Puget Sound, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca. A group of sailors led by Joseph Whidbey, part of the Vancouver Expedition, found and mapped Deception Pass on June 7, 1792. George Vancouver gave it the name "Deception" because it had misled him into thinking Whidbey Island was a peninsula. Deception Pass is a dramatic seascape where the tidal flow and whirlpools beneath the twin bridges connecting Fidalgo Island to Whidbey Island move quickly. During ebb and flood tide current speed reaches about 8 knots (9.2mph), flowing in opposite directions between ebb and flood. This swift current can lead to standing waves, large whirlpools, and roiling eddies. This swift current phenomenon can be viewed from the twin bridges' pedestrian walkways or from the trail leading below the larger south bridge from the parking lot on the Whidbey Island side. Boats can be seen waiting on either side of the pass for the current to stop or change direction before going through. Thrill-seeking kayakers go there during large tide changes to surf the standing waves and brave the class 2 and 3 rapid conditions. The following video shows just how fast and strong the currents run here, and that it is definitely not a safe place to be in the water during flood and ebb. One visitor makes a potentially huge error releasing his Labrador into these waters. Luckily for this owner his dog was a great swimmer as all Lab’s are. Thankfully all ended well but the beach going visitors nearby were definately feeling the pup’s struggles. The owner received a tongue lashing from a couple women that watched the whole intense minute. Bad decision on the owners part, but a happy ending on a beautiful day. Always remember, think before your actions !
