Also as we have noted, Peter is writing to a group of new believers in Yeshua in this area (modern day Turkey). Each of these had churches spread throughout that area.
The book of James stresses the importance of having control of the tongue. James uses various illustrations to show how a relatively small thing, like the tongue, can have a huge impact. James uses illustrations that most can understand.
Peter is NOT denying the possibility that persecution, difficulty, and suffering will be encountered by the people of GOD. The apostle does not view the situation solely in terms of the immediate present, but he considers the position of faithful believers in relation to eternity. No amount of earthly suffering can do them permanent harm or alter their positional standing with GOD. Peter is saying don’t let it change your condition.
We should be set apart to GOD’s service, but we should also set HIM apart in our hearts as our LORD and Master. Even though we may be persecuted for our faith. GOD does indeed demand that we be willing to defend our views to others.

Yeshua was abused, HE was accused of being a criminal, charged with being a partner of Beelzebub, the “prince of the devils” and condemned as a blasphemer against GOD.ISA 53:7 HE was oppressed and afflicted, Yet HE did not open HIS mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So HE did not open HIS mouth.
ROM 3:23-26, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD, being justified by HIS grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom GOD set forth as a propitiation by HIS blood, through faith, to demonstrate HIS righteousness, because in HIS forbearance GOD had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time HIS righteousness, that HE might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

A spiritual temple, not made of perishable materials, like the Temple at Jerusalem, which was magnificent but would be totally destroyed in 70 AD. In the temple at Jerusalem, the priesthood was appointed to offer sacrifices. Those were rehearsals for the ultimate sacrifice, Yeshua.
Believers in Yeshua have been brought into the divine family and thus share in all that relationship means. This is a worldwide, spiritual people belonging to GOD “a people for HIS possession,”
GAL 3:28-29, There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise. Yeshua is our High Priest, the One Mediator between GOD and men.
The only exception is that we must disobey those laws that, if we obeyed them, would cause us to disobey GOD. ACTS 5:29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey GOD rather than men. ”The Scriptures command us to obey civil rulers “for the LORD’s sake.” It follows that to disobey the rulers is to disobey the command of GOD.

We should eliminate bad things, but it is done because of the good things GOD gives that motivates us to want to do good. Not so that we receive more blessings but because of what we have received. Although that may well be a result. This Spirit led life requires us to lay aside things like Malice.
Scriptures on lying and deceit are plentiful, so we know that the subject is important, and that man is more than capable of exhibiting that bad behavior.EXO 20:16; PRO 6:16-19; 19:22; PSA 24:3-5; 40:4; MAT 15:18-20; JOH 8:44; ACTS 5:1-91PET 2:22; 3:10; EPH 4:25; COL 3:9; REV 21:8,27; 22:14,15;…
Hypocrisy is a particular kind of deceit, for example we lead others to believe we are a kind of person which we really are not. The word relates to the idea of a play actor who pretends to be something he is not. So now the contrast from what things not to do, to things to do.

Peter urges the believers to prepare their minds for action, be sober, set their hope fully on grace, and live as obedient children of GOD, not conforming to their former ignorance. Peter also puts an emphasizes on the short human life we have on this earth, contrasting it with the enduring word of GOD.
We should eliminate bad things, but it is done because of the good things GOD gives that motivates us to want to do good. Not so that we receive more blessings but because of what we have received.
At worst, a failure to grow spiritually deals a powerfully negative blow to one’s faith. Physical growth is naturally limited by age. At a certain point the human body stops growing, although continues to age. Spiritual growth goes on forever, in this world and in the next. There can be no limit to eternity and living in the Heavenly presence of our creator.

The theme of the letter overall, is about suffering and persevering. Those who persevere in faith while suffering trials tribulations, persecution will still be full of confidence. Peter is writing to encourage his readers to endure suffering and persecution by giving themselves entirely to GOD. Resting in their faith. The encouragement applies to all believers, followers of Yeshua as well.
It forces our faith to the surface, and purifies us from a life of dependence on ourselves and our solutions or the world’s solutions in the details of life.

The climax to Mark’s gospel is the resurrection. With it, Yeshua is declared to be the Son of GOD with power, and the disciples go from acting like defeated followers to fiery witnesses for the LORD. The good news, the Gospel about Yeshua is that through the resurrection of Yeshua, sin was dealt with, death was defeated. It was this message that lay at the heart of the apostles preaching.
That all four gospels also agree that a group of women discovered the empty tomb is significant, for women were not generally treated as reliable witnesses in first-century Judaism. The gospels’ agreement, therefore, is strong evidence for the fact of the resurrection. If the disciples had invented this story, they are unlikely to have made women the primary witnesses to the empty tomb.
We do know they witnessed the arrival of the angel who rolled the stone away and were overwhelmed by terror, becoming like ‘dead men’. They certainly realized something extraordinary had occurred – enough to warrant a report to the Jewish authorities. However, despite the deep impression these events must have left on them, they allow themselves to be bribed into denying them.

The backdrop is all of the Disciples complaining and shouting at the woman. Their spiritual sight was just a little of focus.
62 And Yeshua said, “I am; and you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”63 Tearing his clothes, the high priest said, “What further need do we have of witnesses?64 “You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?” And they all condemned HIM as deserving of death.
66 And while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the slave women (young girl) of the high priest came,67 and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You were with Yeshua the Nazarene as well.”
ISA 53:7, He was oppressed and afflicted, Yet He did not open HIS mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So HE did not open HIS mouth.
Notice contrast between the first Adam and the last! Adam was guilty, and yet tried to make excuses and shift blame. The second Adam Yeshua was guiltless, and yet made no defense at all.

Luke’s account says the event occurred in the home of a Pharisee named Simon, the others say it was in the home of Simon the Leper in Bethany. Simon the Leper and Simon the Pharisee were one and the same. He was a leper that Yeshua healed, although the account is not recorded for us.
This is a perfume made from a certain plant and was imported and in its pure form was extremely expensive. The woman is identified in the Gospel of John as Mary the sister of Martha and Lazurus. We do not know how many of the disciples were displeased with the woman’s actions, but we get the impression that it was probably all of them.
Notice the contrast between the woman full of love and respect for the LORD to the Chief priests who want to kill HIM. The woman’s reverent act of devotion interpreted by Yeshua as a loving anointing for HIS coming burial, stands in contrast to the hatred towards HIM of those trying to kill HIM.

There is comfort in all this for true Christians. We do indeed live in a troubled world. However, we can and in fact we are to rest in the fact that GOD has everything in HIS ultimate control. So we are to remember HIS promises.
DEU 31:8, The LORD HIMself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
MAT 28:18-20, And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to ME. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (how can anyone deny the Trinity), teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

The temple to which they were referring was incredible. In those days it was the largest in the world, It was far larger than any Greek temple. It was made of white stone and covered with gold in many places. It was said that it looked incredible shining on the hill in the morning sun.
It is like looking at two mountain peaks in the distance. And with that view we cannot tell how far apart those two mountains are, we simply see what lies ahead. But in this illustration, there is a great valley in between the mountains. So, this illustrates the first advent the second advent and in between, the valley is the Church-age.
Notice nations and kingdoms. The word for nation is ἔθνος ethnos it is where we get the word ethnic. So races against races is more accurate and then nations or kingdoms against kingdoms. One of Satan’s favorite tools is to divide and then, try to conquer.

Resurrection Sunday instead of Easter. Yet, some of those same people still practice all the trappings of the pagan holiday easter while simply calling it Resurrection Sunday.Don’t get me wrong many are quite sincere in their Christianity in their walk with Yeshua. However, they need to re-examine that walk, as we all should do.
Martin Luther was said to have organized egg hunts for his The custom of the Easter egg hunt, congregation. The men would hide the eggs for the women and children to find. In order to justify such pagan stupidity, some said well it represents the story of the resurrection, in which the empty tomb was discovered by women. HUH?
Satan is using mysteries and deceptions to deceive people into thinking that they are worshipping GOD when they are actually worshipping him, Satan. It is the deception of all deceptions. Make people think they are doing good when they are in fact practicing evil. Remember Satan’s main goals regarding man that we looked at earlier.
Imagine as the women arrived, the darkness giving way to the light slowly, steadily…What it must have looked like that glorious day that impacted the whole world.

It is almost like they were trying to make the most noise with their offerings.
The Court of the Women, into which both men and women were allowed to be in, perhaps it was there that Yeshua was sitting. Yeshua sat down where HE could watch the people bring their offerings for the temple and put them in one of the trumpet-shaped containers. It was not the rich with their large gifts who caught Yeshua’s attention but a poor widow.

The Jewish people lived for the day when they would have their own land to themselves again. For the most part, the crowd that day was made up of people who were fed up with the Roman occupation of their land.

The setting in Jericho reminds us that Yeshua is approaching Jerusalem.
1) Yeshua’s entrance into Jerusalem and HIS challenge to the city and its religious leaders. HE cleansed the temple and cursing of the fig tree;2) A series of conflicts and debates between Yeshua and the religious leaders; 3) The Olivet Discourse, where Yeshua predicts the destruction of Jerusalem and the signs of the end of the age.
To get on a colt on which no man has ever sat, and then to ride it through a shouting mob numbering thousands, was remarkable in itself. But remember that everything Yeshua did everything was to accomplish the plan of GOD the Father , fulfilling prophecies.

The Pharisees were not honestly seeking information from Yeshua about divorce. They were testing HIM, trying to catch him in some statement about a subject on which they themselves had no agreement and then use it against HIM.
The text from Deuteronomy does not explicitly set out grounds for divorce, Moses recognizes the reality of divorce, that it happens, and so he stipulates that a man who divorces his wife may not remarry her after she remarries. The primary purpose of the command was to protect the wife from arbitrary divorce. A man could not divorce his wife and then accuse her of adultery or claim her back after she remarried. Nor could he remarry her for financial gain if her new husband died.

1PET 5:1, “Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed. ”We need to see the glory of the transfiguration as it was intended to be to the Disciples: Encouragement.
The word metamorphoō metamorphosis means “to change into another form” and is used only a few times in the NT. In ROM 12 and 2COR 3 the word describes the believer’s progressive change into the likeness of Yeshua Messiah. This is not a change in Yeshua’s nature but rather an outward transformation of HIS appearance that reflects HIS true nature.

A fuller’s job was to cleanse and whiten cloth. In Jerusalem, the cleansing process took place in a fullers' field outside the city because of the smell of what was used in the cleaning process, lye.
Peter, James, and John, are what many consider to be the inner circle of the disciples. Possible that also these were the ones that needed to be under the LORD’s supervision. The same three were present at the raising of Jairus’s daughter (CH 5) and were with Yeshua in Gethsemane (as we will see in CH 14).
Here we see Mark’s Gospel come to this critical event. Everything seems to build up to this point and then everything flows from it. Really the first 8 CH of Mark center around Galilee, the last 8 chapters are in the south, in Judea.

What the Pharisees had was a severe case of religion, and they had it bad, but what Yeshua had was of course reality and truth.
Yeshua has compassion on those who are not HIS people, those without any faith in HIM. HE feels tenderly for them, though they don’t know it, HE will die for them though many of them would not know it, He would receive them graciously, and grant them eternal life if only they repent and believe on HIM.

The first incident we see in this section of text took place in Gennesaret, and the trouble was centered around a question of Jewish ritual. A question or event centered on the traditions of man. And that is the overall theme of this section of the text. In this incident, which is concerned with not whether you should wash your hands before a meal, but how to wash the hands. Thus, we see the continuing clash between Yeshua and religion. What the Pharisees had was a severe case of religion, and they had it bad, but what Yeshua had was of course reality and truth.
